We turned on our mobile data as the wifi at the station wasn't working, tried to get Google Maps to work, with no luck (it's one of the blocked sites in China), so did a search on how to get from Shenzhen to the border. A forum on Trip Adviser confirmed that it was just a short walk from Shenzhen station, but didn't provide any details as to where this "walk" might happen to start.
