Rescued by Santa

I had a lot of interesting observations to make about today's drive but they've all been wiped out of my head by subsequent events.  More of that in a bit.  I started with a short detour to Cedar Point on Lake Erie cos I thought it'd be a shame to have come all that way and not see it (the lake).  The town's an odd place - obviously used to be a sort of grain port (some of the buildings reminded me of Albert Dock in Liverpool) but now there's a mix of rusting factories of some sort, old peopl...

1st day towards Bryce Canyon N.P.

Today was our 1st day on the road towards Bryce Canyon National Park. Both today and tomorrow we will be taking our time as we drive to Lincoln, NE where we will visit one our good customers.

It was raining as we left home and it rained the whole time we were traveling. So boys and girls, no pictures today. Although ...

Day 2

Ok, well, I'm not sure I can call it day 2 cause it all rolled into on long trip.

We saw lots of interesting stuff. Just kept driving and not sleeping much. Stopping to pee and for Sassy to pee too! Eating alot of ****... and driving, and driving!!

Boring Iowa

... one cool thing about Davenport is that it lies right on the border of Iowa and Illinois, which is separated by the Mississippi River.

On a side note, we have been listening to several books on tape during our long car rides. We just finished "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea" by Chelsea Handler, and we are now listening to
"The DaVinci Code" by Dan Brown.

We drove from 11 to 11, and just made it passed the mississippi into Iowa. I drove and Vanessa snapped the pictures through our bug splattered windshield.

Earlier, as Vanessa was following me from Erie to Ashtibula to drop off the kittens, she said that my lights were'nt working so well, especially my turn signalls. i checked, they were faint but they definately worked ...

The Road Home

Nothin' but road. Eastern Nebraska and most of Iowa is great farm country but boring to drive through. 603 miles in 11 hours, did great. About 374 left for tomorrow. We passed a Google car today, eastbound on I-80 just west of NE exit 168. must watch for their entry, we may be on it.

... I can leave the set of The Q.C. Of course it won't be much of a weekend as the starter in the truck went out so I have to replace that. I guess to much travel for this project, the small light in this hole is that at least I get paid mileage. Ha!

Yah.

First full week out here on the set of The QC. It was an early morning starting out at three in the morning and getting here at seven and then working a ten hour shift. Yah, so three more weeks of this...this...this thing. Hopefully. I guess there is a deadline the first of April so I'm just working towards that. The motto is, "For Kings and Company". Yah.

End of the Week...

... I can get home in good time so that I can pack for the trip to Cancun that Danielle and I are leaving for on Sunday. I'll be back here at the Rock on Friday, staying the night and heading back Saturday again next week. That is fine by me, that is six hours of drive time that I'll put on my timesheet AND mileage! Ha!

Back to reality ...

11 hours driving today ... We knew that before we started the trip, so it's not like it was a surprise. We had agreed that we all wanted more 'family time' in Orlando with Bro, so it's what we had to do. Luckily, being the 4th of July weekend, there was no construction happening, and it seemed that there were very few lane closures, probably to allow for the free flow of the increased holiday traffic, was my theory.
