... we decided to head for Knoxville.We had booked through Airbnb for tonight and needed to be there at 4pm as Vicki the owner was going out. It was at this point it all went wrong. We travelled through heavy rain,clouds and very twisting roads up and down mountains. Simply put, the tour and the home were spectacular. In its heyday, the home was made up of 44 rooms! Yes, that is 44 rooms. Mr. Clay was an emancipationist and an antislavery newspaper publisher. He was appointed Ambassador to Russia by Abraham Lincoln and spent the Civil War years in Russia. Much of the artifacts found in the home are from Russia.
