Hi all We had a 6.15am wake up call and a great breakfast. Jackie as usual was a little slow moving - being an afternoon person etc. Todays travel was from Lake Lucerne to Cologne, Germany. A distance of some 500kms. When we left the weather was fine and before long we were on the Autobahn. After 1.5 hours we had a 30 minute break at a very clean road house. Since coming into Austria the road houses have been extra clean. During the travel the countryside was lovely with many small village. J...

Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany newyorklovesme... in Cologne which is where I was supposed to be today.
I would have gone to stay with Laura last night except for the fact that the family I lived with decided to go and get vaccinated for the swine flu and are now reacting to the vaccine. I'm glad to say that I chose not to get the vaccine despite some pressure from the family to go ahead and do it. I just don't trust people to put diseases into my body without testing them for a good long ...

Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany cariverga... the last to leave (last Sunday) and I already miss my amazing friends! I know my house mates do too, especially Kirsten who had taken a shine to each and every one.
Now I'm back to my regular schedule, and am amazed to find that I am home for Christmas in just six short weeks! It's amazing how fast the time is flying. Still I'm meeting new friends, learning new words (new favorite, Arschkriecher means "Brown-noser." Those of you with some ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jluetkehans... it came, it was one thin pancake that was as big as the plate. But wow, it was really good. And I got so full that I actually couldn’t finish it.

When I finished my dinner I went back to the hostel and worked on blogs for the rest of the evening.

Tomorrow I have another whole day in Amsterdam, but I almost wish I didn’t. I’m not sure what I’ll do all day.

I know zero words in Dutch, but I think they all speak English, so goodbye!
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany zolina... view of the town. After visiting a local farmers market and the friendly neighborhood winestuben, we entertained ourselves at night by cooking, drinking Wurzburg whites, and playing cards at the local hostel (Amazingly Patti and I actually do have great days completely devoid of perilous adventure, mistranslation, and befuddlement). Next up was Rothenburg, an extremely cutesy medieval walled German town, complete with countless bus loads of 60+ tourists, hell bent on ...
Cologne, Germany ryanandpatti... bread/cheese plates. Everyone wandered the streets after leaving the brewery for a short time before parting ways. On my way home, I stopped off in the Neumarkt and bought a sweatshirt and shirt. Damn the U.S. dollar. There are so many cool things that would actually be a damn good deal, if our money were actually worth something. Sam, Jessica and I met up later that evening for a few beers at an Irish pub, which was fun. There was karaoke there, I didn't have enough beers to get up ...
Cologne, Germany dabassisst... was over. Once I got off of the first train, I had to make my way to the second one. As Steve and I practiced, I walked to the escalators to bring me down to the next train. The escalators were not running. So I had no choice but to carry all of my luggage down three flights of stairs. When I got to the bottom I could barely breathe. I dragged my suitcases through the train station and when I finally got to where I "thought" I was supposed to be, I realized I had to go down one ...
