Angeles City

... to move to a deluxe room at a cost of 1300 pesos per day. This room was much like our first room, only it had a better (less noisy) air-conditioner, a better TV and was substantially bigger than the standard room. By the early afternoon, I figured that I should walk around the city and take pictures of the sites I could find. As I was taking pictures of the jeepneys and tricycles that were passing by, I was approached by a friendly man that said ...

Angeles City again

... the stops that Victory Liner did plus the bus station was more north and closer to Angeles. The trip cost 130 pesos and took about an hour and a half. I went once again to Tiger Hotel because all the others that I phoned were full or only had expensive rooms. Tiger didn't have any standard rooms either so I stayed in a 1300 peso room.

Day 2 . . . Dollhouses & Aussies

... Bar right around the corner. Ther place was 1/2 working girls and 1/2 people from England cheering on a "big" game of Criket. Oh and some black dude singing kareoke for entertainment. Place was LAME! Ended up at Kokomo's drinking, watching people walk by on the street and talking with some dude named Manny. He was pretty cool and he ended up taking me to a place called the Doll House right down the street ...

Adjusting to Philippines Life (Week 3)

... time) are very popular among the Filipinos as noon is the hottest part of the day, and can be quite unbearable here. Air-con is one of our team's favorite words, and stands for air conditioning, an essential to Filipino life. Having been here for just over 3 weeks, our team has had the opportunity to adjust to life here in the Philippines, although some things, like the heat, take a little bit longer to get used to. We finished our language training ...

We were however, greeted by a 6.0 magnitude earthquake while we were collecting our bags at the airport. The center of the quake was north of Manila, but we did feel it at the airport as well ...

First Night In Philippines

... waiting for their loved ones, most of whom were returning home from Singapore. I found a friendly security guard, which in turn found me a taxi driver. Whom said he can assist me in finding accommodation on field ave. He said most Joe's stay on Field Ave.

Going up the country

... The traffic was terrible-it took more than three hours to get back. That was okay, though...we talked extensively about travel, politics, the world, our faith. His father was a farmer and a pastor and he tried to encourage him to visit the holy land after he had made a trip in the early 90s. Between his previous trip to Israel and mine to Egypt and Turkey, we had a lot to discuss. It's interesting how it turned out. I didn't ...
