Holiday Inn Brandywine Wilmington

... had a few shops that were open so early in the morning. 1st stop of course was the Choc shop where we got multiple selections for tasting.......
Then it was off to Dunkin's for a coffee so we could get the breakfast underway. I had to also grab a choc frosted donut while there...but that should be of no surprise to anyone reading these blogs at this time.

After loading up with enough sugar for the whole trip we hit a couple of small shops. We ...

So from then on we had to make a move to fit everything in. 1st up was the Lincoln memorial. THe a jog for about 2kms to Arlington cemetry for some more pics.
Then it was a jog back to the Washington memorial. We actually got tix for this as we were there so early....Went up and snapped more pics before then running for the hotel and booking out to get the 12.00 bus back to Phili.

Not a good thing to say about NY, but 9/11 has certainly got them running scared around the security checks......but to think that we can still jump on any subway out of the city and cruise straight into any Manhattan station with no questions asked........But wait there's more to follow...this was just the start of the day.

Just a quick one to say hi to all my mates from another US city of the revolution (a couple of hundred years ago) now the city of Brotherly Love & soft cheese ! Have spent a few days eating and drinking and catching up with Andy's former life / acquaintances etc - lots of rowing talk and seemingly collecting specimens for a stacked boat at Henley 2010. Back to London on Monday night and work shortly thereafter yeuck.

... a town called Runnemede... far less glamorous and exciting. I could have spent the day exploring Philly after our show on Wednesday, but I was so tired and would have had to take a bus for an hour through Camden (yikes!), that I opted to just go back to the hotel and have a lazy day.

Five of us decided to head back to the hotel, and on the way we decided to get lunch together. We were craving Mexican, and both I and one of the cast ...

... this Center that I have heard so much about. Later we will pick up Candace at the airport and meet up with Linda Watson for dinner. Sunday night we will get on the plane for a 12 hour flight to Aukland New Zealand. I will keep you posted!

... aside, I'm fairly physically fit so it wasn't because I couldn't hack it.) If you are a runner or enjoy biking, that might also be a good way to explore the park since you'll see more of it. Also, if you are a fan of wildlife, the place is crawling with deer and birders will have a field day checking out the many species of birds who call this hallowed ground home.
