Balraj Sahani Marg Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India, 400049
At around 8pm, we arrived at Mumbai and as we all would expect, we were greeted with endless honking (by the way, if you haven't notice, honking is a way of life here at India), traffic jam right at the arrival terminal. We got our pickup driver who then got us to Holiday Inn Mumbai. Well, realistically, Holiday Inn has abandoned this particular hotel after operating it for 20 years and the name has been changed to Hotel International, Mumbai. The location is great if you fancy a beach walk a...
Mumbai, India ascarid_j... as well as house wares. The prices are very reasonable and there is no bargaining. While Sonal and Barbara were finishing up their shopping, Eddie and I went to their upstairs café. It’s called Moshe’s and it’s a chain with a number of locations in Mumbai. The ladies joined us after their shopping and we had a light lunch. Then we visited the Sassoon Synagogue, and the Sassoon Library and began our drive back to Lokhandwala. That took ...
Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India punctiliouspaul... have to not trust anyone (I can hear everyone saying "I told you so!"), but it's sad it has to be that way I think though. went to the Gateway of India which was pretty speccy. So we're feeling a wee bit overwhelmed, but we're quickly getting used to the way of things and have become good at ignoring people. The architecture and all the sights are very very cool though! wow this is long, best be off!! hopefully write again the day after next lots of love XXOO
Mumbai, India perry.f.jacksonShiva ist der beliebteste gott indiens. Er verkoerpert Schoepfung und Neubeginn ebenso wie Erhaltung und Zerstoerung.

... Although Bombay is not the capital of India it is the financial capital. Our last call was at the Prince of Wales Museum, renamed The Mumbai Museum although nobody calls it that. It was a typical museum with items from around the world as well as India. The building was another colonial one which they have almost fimished restoring. On the way back to the ship the families we had seem asleep on the pavement were now preparing a ...
Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India susanel... month or so ago. All cheap guest houses were booked up since we came during a festival weekend. We took the most affordable option and couldn't believe how expensive the rooms were for what you got (isn't this always the way in cities? Hehe). We stayed in India guesthouse, a few floors above the popular Seahorse guest house The entire weekend, including Sunday, there was major construction going on in the stairwell up to our guest house which meant you had to walk ...
Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India carrienica05... it all though, I was happy. I lay there (with my nosed pressed to the ceiling) and felt like I was at the start of a long adventure. There is a special sort of contentment ellicted only by the realisation that you are totally footloose and free to do and move and be as you please. I realised yesterday that the freedom that comes with travelling extends far beyond the physical freedom to roam. If you would permit me to share a thought with you. The next bit rambles a ...
Mumbai, India belahanratty... and thats crowded by foreign standards - I am sure that during peak hour, the train will have at least twice the number of people on it) as a foreigner can be a bit of a challenge, as you have to lose your politeness, since if you didn't that you would probably end up at the train depot as people will not move out of your way. I slowly pushed my way off the carriage....and before I actually got off the carriage had to push the person at the door way off the ...
Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India edip.okur... staff waiting on your every move and a pianist playing Glen Medeiros on a grand piano...what more could a girl want in life?!! We then met a very nice tour guide and he seemed genuine. We got into his air conditioned car and he showed us the most amazing sights of Mumbai. We saw both the illegal and the legal red light districts - not something to be found in our Dorling Kindersley Guide Book to India!! The legal area of prozzies is actually very good..the girls get looked ...
Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India mrsdp... in india to benefit the poor, especially the rural poor - he set up a system whereby rural artists would weave handicrafts which would be marketed in the cities and also imported with the money going back to them - the only clothes he would wear in his adult life was a simple cotton cloth which he wove himself (as a sign of support for the cottage industries) - he was imprisoned for many years several times during his life and his wife ...
