Portland, Maine, United States jimcabayNi hao! (Hello in Chinese...pronounced "knee how")

We are now one week away from our departure and realizing that next week at this time we will be in the air over the Pacific and headed to China! The accumulating of stuff is coming to an end and the real packing is beginning. The girls love the whole packing thing...their mother...not so much. Excitement is in the air as the count down begins.

We are looking forward to ...
Portland, Maine, United States solingchinaOverview

Portland has an amazing history that stretches back over 350 years, and this wonderful town has blossomed into the largest city in Maine. This close-knit community is second only to San Francisco when it comes to restaurants per capita. Old brick buildings and cobblestone streets still exist, and the blend of past and present in Portland is exhilarating. In addition to the prevalence of dining facilities, there are an unbelievable number of stores and shopping ...
Portland, Maine, United States katstravelAfter the smog and the grime of NYC, I thought that some clean air would probably do me good so I have been in New England for the last few days. I've been in all 6 of the NE states at one point or another and have done a fair bit of driving but some of the places I have seen are beautiful and well worth the miles I've been clocking up. I'm sure that if I was the sort of person who knew a lot ...

Boothbay Harbor, Maine, United States gocarygoi never knew what a great city portland, maine is! it is beautiful and has great restaurants. what more can you ask from a city?

we pulled into the harbor just after sunset--there was a lot of traffic in the channel with fishing boats and shrimping boats and lobtah boats. we docked at a slip and went for an amazing dinner at Street (i highly suggest it!).

the next day we set sail around all the little islands ...
Portland, Maine, United States gocarygoThe start of all of my travels within this blog. Nothing to see here, unless you are into a bit of history. Bath is known as "The City of Ships;" a proud city with a lot of heritage and life. Bath is ranked 17th Best Small City in America and is one of the most populated cities in Maine (approximately 10,000). Bath was named for the famous watering place of English Avon ...
Bath, Maine, United States epoch_jay... know where to begin so I'll just dive in! First of all, there were tons of people there who had volunteered to work at this camp and I met folks from New Jersey, New York, Minnesota, California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, England, and Maine, of course. Bonding with these other counselors was fun and they had things organized really well. I met some great people who I hope to stay in touch with and with any ...
Bath, Maine, United States jlbonnett... The funniest thing happened in Hartford, CT at the Elizabeth Park Concert Series. One lady who stopped by and chatted with us, after a few minutes of conversation, asked me if I was in college. Nope, I graduated last year, I said, to which she responded with a smile, 'Ah, I only ask because you have that...idealist air to you, very... crunchy, you know?' Haha! I got called granola by some stranger! (That practically makes me laugh out loud. Am I really that ...
