This morning we spent some time playing with Corbin. He is such a funny kid who loves to make everyone laugh and smile! We played with his digger diggers and with his cars. He was sad when we said it was time to take us to the airport and he said he wanted us to stay! Christmas seems so far away! We are now hanging out at the airport waiting for our flight home. Hotel Is Improving - Give it a try
After reading the negative reviews, I was nervous about giving this property a try. But I must say things must be improving, or others are having a much different experience. Check-in was a little slow. But I found the staff very helpful and interested in giving guests a good impression and experience. The hotel is completely wired for WI-FI which was nice. My discounted room (Hotwire) was a bargain. Friends staying at the Wyndham were fussing about service and had paid nearly twice what I did. The property is undergoing improvements. This hotel is at least average in my book and probably working their way up higher.
It is often said that location is everthing. Location is important, but it is also helpful to create an environment that is customer oriented. My sister and her family and my neighbor and I attended a baseball game at Camden Yards. We stayed at this hotel, and our problems began as soon as we tried to park our car. The garage entrance as blocked. Because we could not get in, we had to drive around, return to the registration desk, and ask someone to unblock the garage entrance. After checking in, my sister discovered that they were given a room that still contained the previous client's luggage and personal items. My room had leftover soap on the sink and someone's pain medication. I ignored it until my neighbor found crumbs in her bed, and I found a BUG in mine. I was not happy. When the beds were ultimately stripped and remade, we thought our problems were over. They were not. The bathroom was mildewed and seemed unclean. You know you're living in high cotton when the wallpaper is PINNED to the wall. The service at the restaurant was exceptionally slow; and although we received out food, others left because they had been waiting for thirty minutes with no service. After checking out, i went outside and suddenly I saw my neighbor running after the conceirge who was putting her suitcase in another person's cab. No one bothered to check to make sure that they had the correct luggage, nor did they check to see that she had secured what was indeed her luggage. Clothes were not important, but her medication was. This is a lengthy review. If you go for location, you need to watch your items and be ready to deal with a series of irritating events.
I booked this hotel through a reputable website (that does not release the name of the hotel until after purchase) and got a really great deal...but now I see why it was so darn cheap!
Run away. Fast.
A one word review: BLEAK
Rooms dingy, dark and dated - think: Middle Ages. Restaurant (McKenna's) is strikingly unclean and the staff unprofessional - loud and profane.
Hotel in dire need of the wrecking ball.
I have stayed here on occasion in the last 3-4 years and always noticed the poor service, and it hasn't improved. While the restaurant menu seems acceptable, the poor lone guy seating people, serving, bussing, the whole thing, makes me wonder what HI is thinking? They have this jewel of a location, yet there are more people running the human resources office than they have serving the people staying there? Little things like clean the mold from the bathroom tub, and refilling the coffee service are missed. Too bad.
Extremely poor food service
Room service the first night not only had the order wrong, the food was not even warm. In the restraunt at noon the next day, we had the buffet. Food was acceptable but tea did not show up until half way through the meal and even then only enough for three not the four drinks we ordered. Massive amount of work I needed to do in my room that evening prompted me to try room service again. Hey, I thought, it had to get better. I was wrong. Got the right dinner but none of the extras were provided, not even salt and peper. Rooms wer e $140 per night, you would expect better service for that kind of money.
The rooms at this hotel were clean and adequately spacious. It was conveniently within walking distance to Inner Harbor. Check in was a pain since we stayed two nights, paid for one night and used our priority club points for the second night. Since we were using two different forms of payment we had to check in TWICE. The manager barely offered up an apology for making us wait in line to check in for two separate days (what a price to pay for a priority club member who stays at holiday inns all the time). The employees seemed confused with the whole check-in process and often needed help from the manager on duty to get someone checked in. The pool and fitness center were beautiful and completely empty. As this hotel was clean and in a good location I would probably stay here again, but hope that they get the check-in process revamped.
It was OK
My family stayed there on Sept 7th, 2004. It is a very short walk to Oriole stadium. That was great for us as we went to a game.
The hotel is older. Our room was big and in pretty good shape. Typical Holiday Inn.
You can walk to the inner harbor area maybe a mile away.
If you get a good rate the location makes this a good choice. But its nothing special.
We chose this hotel based on their family friendly reputation and its location to the Inner Harbor. We took the rest for granted and were disappointed.
Well, this hotel was about what I expected for a 2 star hotel. The price was reasonable, however, you get what you pay for. On the positive side, the rooms were clean and fairly spacious, and the location was convenient to Inner Harbor, although too far to walk if you are traveling with small children. Also, all the children ate free in the hotel restaurant. BUT, it literally took 30 minutes to check in, because the employees did not seem to have an idea of what they were doing, and kept taking phone call in the middle of check-in and forgetting what they were doing. Try waiting with luggage and 4 children after a 3 hour car ride to start your trip! The staff seemed fairly clueless the entire time we were there. I called to see if there was a company that could take me and 4 children to inner harbor and accomodate a car seat, and the answer was "Sorry, no." I used the yellow pages and found such a company myself (Silver Car Limousine-fabulous service!) within 5 minutes. The food at the restaurant, while cheap, was not very good, and we waited for 45 mintues one morning for my daughter to receive one pancake, which was so disgusting it literally made her gag. The pool was spacious, and we had it all to ourselves, however, "heated" is obviously a relative term! All in all, we managed, but I will not stay here again, and would advise spending the extra money for a nicer hotel!
