Vancouver

Hi everyone, Well we are here in downtown Vancouver with lot's of construction going on, they are building skyscrapers and they all look the same! Tomorrow night we are off to a Ice Hockey game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Colorado Avalanche, going to be a huge game and the tickets are very expensive but if we are to do anything here that is the thing to do apparently!! this sport is huge over here and about 85 to 90% of the population follow the games! 19 thousand people will be pac...

Vancouver sights

Hi everyone, Well we went to the Vancouver Canucks game and they lost in a playoff, still very exciting to see, it really was fun. We have been to Stanley Park and that was just beautiful, might try to get there again before we go. We walked half way across the city to get to the waterfront, did a lot of K's yesterday - good for the body. We saw the new convention centre and the exhibition centre where they were having a International wine convention - My Dad would have loved that! There were...

Superb!

from rabocse
Stayed at the Rosedale with relatives for a family reunion and our 16th wedding anniversary last July 2004. The location was perfect, hotel furnishings were fabulous, rooms were absolutely clean and staff was most helpful. Although, the pool wasn't kid friendly because the water was too deep for our children. They should've had a separate pool for kids. The stores nearby closes early and we were hoping the restaurants would stay open late in the evening. Overall, our stay at the hotel was wonderful and I'd recommend it!

Needs Some improvement

Great location, but arrived at our room and found that the air conditioning did not work. The gentleman at the front desk told US to take the cover off the front of the unit and maybe try to reset it. After one hour of no air conditioning we were moved from the 3rd floor to the 13th floor.

This was done by my wife and myself with 6 pieces of luggage. We found it very odd that at 21 story hotel only had 3 elevators (each holds twelve barely). We spoke with several people who complained of this. Watercloset on the 13th floor leaked out onto the floor when flushed. On a brighter side the room was clean. Perhaps a bit of

preventive maintainance and a little more training

for the gentleman at the front desk. Never put the customer in harms way by asking them to try to perform maintainance on mechanical equipment.

Kid Friendly Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
This is a good hotel for staying in Vancouver with kids as it is all suite so the rooms are bigger than normal with plenty of space for the kids to run around in. The location is slightly away from the main downtown area and tourist sights such as Gastown and Grenville Island - taxis are cheap. However it is very close to Yaletown where there is a good selection of restaurants etc. Rosies the restaurant in the hotel is also popular and reasonable - people come off the street for breakfast which is unusual for a hotel restaurant. There is a treasure chest at reception with games etc to keep the kids amused. One problem - the indoor hotel pool was too cold for the kids when we were there in late May. Overall a good hotel worth considering - we would stay there again

Nice Hotel

Nice hotel situated in a great location. Short walk to a number of shopping areas and tourist attractions.

Brilliant - and Proud to be Kid Friendly

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel prides itself on being Kid Friendly - and it certainly is - my 4 year old loved it, and so did I. The hotel is in a great location, on the quiet end of Robson Street rather than the busy, touristy end.

Our room was very comfortable - and was conveniently located next to a guest laundry room. The hotel has a laundry room on every odd floor - which is very helpful as the machines are generally available.

On the second floor there is a wonderful roof-top garden which has a climbing frame and swings. My jet-lagged young son enjoyed playing there whilst I relaxed in a nearby lawn chair. Near the hotel reception counter was a 'treasure chest' which children were encouraged to dip into whenever they wanted and it was full of new, inexpensive toys. My son loved the Treasure Chest and it kept him happy whilst I made enquiries, etc. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly.

The hotel has a restaurant called Rosies which is popular with the locals and always busy, the food was excellent in a relaxed atmosphere.

The only negative - and it is not with the hotel - is the appalling Airporter Shuttle service - take a taxi and save a lot of grief, especially if travelling on your own with a young child. The Airporter does not go direct to the Rosedale, passengers are dropped outside another hotel and have to wait for a connecting bus. We waited about 20 minutes and thankfully it wasn't raining as there was no where to shelter. The bus is high off the ground with steps and the drivers were exceptionally unhelpful - other passengers helped me (a petite woman travelling on her own with a 4 year old child) get our luggage on and off the bus. It was evident I would have struggled on my own if the other passengers had not come to my aid.

After getting on the connecting bus, the second driver literally drove past the Rosedale without stopping and went to the bus station instead to pick up extra passengers. He then said to avoid a one-way system, he would drop us about 2 blocks away from the Rosedale and expected us to walk back. I had to insist that he drop us outside the Rosedale! I registered a complaint with the hotel about the Airporter Shuttle service and its staff.

Very happy at the Rosedale on Robson

We stayed here before and after a cruise to Alaska. We couldn't fault the room and the service. We also enjoyed eating and drinking at Rosie's bar. We would certainly stay here again.

Loved the ambiance of Rosedale property

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed on the 15th floor in RCI condo, view is wonderful and the location is great!! The hotel rooms we saw were average, but the pool and whirlpool were in excellent condition, very quiet and private. They had a lovely patio and gardens, excellent restaurant. Yale Town shopping, 6 blocks to main shopping on Robson. Such a relaxing atmosphere, I would definitely stay there again.

Our 2 bedroom suite was very small. It was clean and everything, but the living room/kitchen area was so small.
