NZ Tiger hits the Greek Islands...

... we had imagined so we decided to hire quaddies and zip around the island that way... this is a pretty common way to get around, in fact I think there are more quad bikes on the island than cars. I'll admit, there were a few near misses... I was struggling to come to terms with the whole Right Hand Side of the road thing... there actually was no reverse, so reversing consisted of Nikki and I physically pushing the bike backwards. Went a bit mad in the jewellery stores ...

... After making some extra ways to getting back home - and i was really glad to have my compass with me, because otherwise i had to take the taxi, i arrived at home, where i prepared together with Antonio a greek salad. He told me, that there will be a CS-party tonight. One beer on his balcony was finished, when we went over to the party. I met a lot of various people, within some damn funny ...

... curly blonde hair... THE blue lagoon... but it's quite a distance to get there so we'll need a lot of time. and, of course, we have drills the day we come back so i'm not sure if we'll have enough time. it would be lovely, though. it's nice to have the opportunity to visit a place, and then go back two weeks later and see stuff that you didn't get to see the first time. it's also nice cuz if you go there once and it sucks, you can do your laundry or have a nap the next time you get there.

Bon Voyage

... drinks almost constantly and the flight attendants were so great. The seats were sooo comfortable and there was tons of leg room. When I got to Toronto I had 30 minutes to get to my flight to Rome. I ran like the terminal. I thought I got there just in time, but then I waited, and waited, and waited. Then we finally borded and then waited some more. We took off late, but it was still predicted that we would get to Rome on time. When I got on the plane I immediately ...

A Cherished and Chance Meeting in Roma

... past few years associated with the staff and students of St Matt's.  You have taught me so much.  I look forward to seeing you all again in April.  Pax Christo -Mark (Mr. Shulist) Note from Merina: The 28th was my Dad's birthday and when the St. Matt's group found out, they sang him "Happy Birthday". I think that was the best birthday present that he could have been given. The smile on his face could have lit up a whole block, and it lasted all day.

Ferry from Venice and Athens!

... I had to walk about half a mile to the ship. It must have been 100 degrees and sticky hot. I had to keep stoping to drink water because I felt sick! However, once I got on the boat, it was absolutely fantastic! It was just like camping aboard a cruise ship! I spread my sleep-sack out on the floor and made myself a little bed, and everyone else was doing the same. A little campground out on the ship's deck. Awesome ...

... entrance and the temple of Athena Nike. As you exit the temple the large Parthenon is on the right flanked by the Erechtheion on the left, famous Caryatids and all (the originals are in the Acropolis Museum). The entire area overlooks the city of Athens and the port of Piraeus. The views from the Acropolis are breathtaking with mountains framing the city and the port beyond them. The Parthenon had scaffolding attached to the sides ...

Arrival In Greece

... want to capture in a perfect memory (aka. a photo), well will have to wait for another trip.....it just so happens that we booked our week on Santorini, a now known massive touristic island is fully booked, or at least to get to the damn island. So upsetting. We booked our hostel ahead, fearing it would fill up but we didnt realize that it would fill up so fast on the ferries, and flights, well.....lets not go there. Anywayz, besides the rainy weather, overly long and sleepless train ...

The Mythic Journey

... in our "to die for" accommodations in Santorini, I don't know what I would of done without her. Answer; always travel with an accountant! My strength is not that. And thank you Pam for having the most inquisitive questions ever and exhibiting such clear boundaries. When much to my chagrin, as I rounded the corner from our Polis Grand Hotel as one of our Mercedes Benz Taxi drivers dressed in an oversized suit who could have been ...

... extolling the virtues of Europe in general, I've also gotten up to some sight-seeing since i arrived here yesterday. Went to go see the Temple of Olympian Zeus and got in for free (don't know how that works, but i decided to just go with it), and it was reasonably astounding. Quite a few of the more heavily touristed ancient sites look alot like empty lots with a few pillars and chunks of marble lying around, and it takes away from the awe factor; but what can you ...
