Day 54 (June 9) -- Said goodbye to my cousin this morning and drove through part of Pontiac, Troy, Birmingham, Beverly Hills (the village of, that is, in Michigan, not far from Pontiac), and then Grass Lake. Didn't see or do anything very exciting except two turtles at the side of the road-- very still but not sure if they were dead or just stopped in their tracks when they heard the traffic -- not a word of exaggeration ...
... of doll houses. It was quite amazing! I thought I would be somewhat bored by all the cars. Nothing bored me. And, I, for some reason, had thought it would be kind of greasy. You know, cars! No, instead, it was an enormously fancy museum, with chandeliers, and parquet floors! I was delightedly surprised!

... could not find parking. There is a nice parking lot next to the museum but it belongs to a funeral home and was closed because a funeral was in progress. We gave up and headed for the hotel.

We got boarded and found some seats . . . and the ride was uneventful (except from some child screaming further back in the car . . . thank you, thank you for headphones and ear plugs!!). The train arrived in Ann Arbor on time!
Cole and Tammi were there to meet us. On the way home we stopped in Dundee from some supper--good ol' Bob Evans!!
