A really nice hotel with easy access to the airport, and a convenient shuttle service. Staff allowed us to check in early. Very quiet and clean hotel.

Comfortable, Convenient, But hope Nothing Goes Wrong

    Large comfortable room
Location is convenient for the airport by complimentary shuttle bus
Reachable from the city by metro and a 15 minute walk
Staff friendly at first, but when the door lock jammed denying entry they blamed the guests. But the technician who opened it said it was a battery failure. It meant waiting an hour late at night for the technician to arrive and then a change of room. No apology was offered and no compensation. The hotel was prepaid, but on check out the next morning, there was some additional tax to pay of Euro 5.11. Having the exact coins of Euro 5.10 to offer was not good enough; they insisted on having Euro 5.11, which meant giving notes and getting a lot more coins in change. For all the disruption of the night before they were not prepared to offer even 1 cent in compensation.

Curbing their enthusiasm, the children tolerated a trip through the very do-able Van Gogh museum. We all had our favorite ...

It was lonely, there was no laughter, music, stories or gossip, I felt isolated. I still had Jack and Ganzer, they had always been there though. I found it strange that someone had such an effect on me. Maybe the fact that someone as amazing and unique as her found me to be somewhat interesting is what baffles me the most. She was as cute as a button, intelligent, well mannered, funny, bilingual .... and she sought my company, she complimented me ...

... the world to dedicate their lives to God. At one point Catholicism was outlawed and the Dutch Reformed Church took over. There were many secret Catholic Churches in Amsterdam including one in this area. There were alm houses including a wooden one and a grave of a nun who wanted to be buried in the gutter.

We walked through Spui Square to the Amsterdam Museum and noted the wall plaques. We saw the narrowest house in Amsterdam. We then ...

... for me - really just something else to see all of the girls standing in windows knocking at people and being naughty! Also everywhere smelled like a big joint and people are just so casual about it.. riding bikes and going about business with doobies in their mouths. We hopped around the district a bitm had a few drinks and then had to go get on a river boat cruise thing we booked. It was 2.5 hours long and you had a fancy meal while touring around. There were quite a few people and ...

... for a quick nap. We'd been up for about 12hours and walking for hours we needed the rest! After our power nap, we then walked to the House of Bols. For an actually quite fun "adventure in the glamour world of cocktails, liqueurs and genever". It is a museum which is quite interactive. You learn about Lucas Bols who founded the oldest distilled spirit brand in the world in 1575 and discover how your senses lend to your tasting experience, and have fun sniffing 36 liqueurs/genevers ...
