A really nice hotel with easy access to the airport, and a convenient shuttle service. Staff allowed us to check in early. Very quiet and clean hotel.

Comfortable, Convenient, But hope Nothing Goes Wrong

    Large comfortable room
Location is convenient for the airport by complimentary shuttle bus
Reachable from the city by metro and a 15 minute walk
Staff friendly at first, but when the door lock jammed denying entry they blamed the guests. But the technician who opened it said it was a battery failure. It meant waiting an hour late at night for the technician to arrive and then a change of room. No apology was offered and no compensation. The hotel was prepaid, but on check out the next morning, there was some additional tax to pay of Euro 5.11. Having the exact coins of Euro 5.10 to offer was not good enough; they insisted on having Euro 5.11, which meant giving notes and getting a lot more coins in change. For all the disruption of the night before they were not prepared to offer even 1 cent in compensation.

... it to a whole new level. Cars have to give way to the pedestrians and they have no caution. They trust the cars to get out of their way - so glad none of us were driving.

We found a canal cruise that was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Such an old city. There was a house that was only 1 metre wide!!! Many of the houses were crooked and some of the decorations were very usual.

... Mr H out of the way of a rather large painting by Hals, whilst shouting at him en Francais. She then stood about a foot away from the painting, so that no-one else could see the whole painting, or take a photo!

After a tiring few hours, we stopped to sit in the park outside the museum, watching children playing in the water fountains. When we returned to the hotel, Mr H decided to have a lie down and "rest his eyes", and didn't wake up for another 3 hours, at half ten in ...

... market, passed the Homomonument, and to Anne Frank's house. They don't allow photography within the museum, but you can see the statue of her nearby. This museum was very powerful and sad. I have read the book several time and was in the play, but there was still so much to the story that was so much more real being there in person. For some reason the saddest part of the whole experience was seeing this crate with the name "Frank" written on it in big letters as you ...

... euro and Michelle only spent two euro. That's our kind of shopping, but it's very hard to pass up all the cute clothes! There's a park bar by so we sat on a bench and watched all the dogs play. People were bringing their dogs to the park after work, so it was quite entertaining watching all the wee little dogs. Everyone had small dogs. We saw one lab and the next biggest dog was a terrier. After an hour in the park, we're hungry so off to find food and maybe happy hour. We eat ...

... for the ticket, however no conductor came through and we were forced to depart the tram without paying. Now we are fugitives in Amsterdam on the lamb and looking over our shoulder! Once we made our way to the approximate location we asked a young couple where we might find the Hard Rock and they pointed us along a tree lined canal with was just beautiful. Amsterdam has about 12 canals throughout the city, very much like Venice ...
