205 Wolf Road Albany, New York, United States, 12205, 518-458-7250
Upstate New York is just lovely, wooded hills broken up with patches of small farm land - old red barns next to white houses set into brilliant green fields. The thruway is occasionally high enough to look down into small valleys that look like christmas villages. The air was cool, misty and the traffic minimal. All of which was a blessing today after yesterday. I actually went to the car and got a sweatshirt.

I saw cows colored ...
Albany NY, New York, United States journal70The first part of the ride from the village of Lake George to Glens Falls is mostly on a bike trail. It was nice to have a shorter, much flatter ride the next day down to Easton Mountain, where I attended a retreat over Labor Day weekend.
Easton, New York, United States drewcbAfter the fun experience of really checking tire pressure and filling to specs I was on my way - sounds simple but Visions are not. Too much hardware in the way and make sure your have a gauge with a little hose.
First stop, a short hop to Albany to visit with friends I see far too little of. Delightful way to begin the trip, and a shady spot for the bike to roost for the night.
Albany, New York, United States visionrider... one or two ridges to cross. There's a great downhill leading to the Alcove reservoir, southwest of Albany. We camped that evening at a lovely marina on the shore of the Mohawk river, just west of Schenectady.
Scotia, New York, United States drewcb... where we had started and that we were so close to the finish. There was one really good but short climb and as I started up it there was this huge bear like animal on all fours in front of me, I couldn't tell for sure what it was it looked to beig to be a dog and there was no master around it started to concern me. As I approached I could hear the labored breathing even over mine! It was an old Chow the owner was at ...
Latham, New York, United States bot989... Many of the houses on the main street did indeed look in need of some TLC but somehow that only adds to their charm. However, leaving them will not preserve them either. It has rather a colourful past it seems, at one time there was about 50 bars and many houses of ‘ill repute’ when these were raided, many local officials and police were caught!

After declining in the 60’s and 70’s the city has ...
Hudson, New York, United States malbetWe could not have asked for a better weekend! Add the perfect weather to having our friends & family around and we could not have asked for more! The boys and I arrived around 10:30 Friday morning. Our first visitors arrived around 11:00 am and stayed well into the night to enjoy a beautiful campfire. Sami joined us after work and settled in to one of the ...
East Berne, New York, United States dmassoudThe night before I left, I took my bike and rode along the Jordan River Parkway near Saratoga Springs, watching a beautiful sunset go behind the mountains. Sometimes I like to just be alone.
Saratoga Springs, Utah, New York, United States alifebeinglived... out from London my ipod decides to quit working. We head to the local Apple store and it's replaced, but I lose 60 Gigiabytes worth of music and I fear being soundless for the next three months. Jen's boyfriend Louie comes to my rescue and uploads his collection onto it as I leave, for which I am eternally grateful although most of it I've never heard before; Assembly of Dust, Phish and String Cheese Incident likely to become my favourite bands over the coming weeks ...
Albany, New York, United States nzgreenieSo if there is such a thing as workable socialism- Albany has got it. Right now I am living in this community. At first, it was so unlike anything I'd ever been in that I didn't know how to react or think about it. But now, I think its amazing. It's a "community"/commune/collective left over from the 60s and 70s. Every monday they have a meeting called "money gain" where they ...
