Es ist billig... was soll man also erwarten...
Comfortable Airport Hotel
We stayed here for one night after arriving in the early evening from Hong Kong. After a long day travelling we found the reception staff pleasant and efficient. The price we paid for one night was comparable to a travel lodge type hotel in England. The landing and corridors to our room were fairly basic but the room was large, clean and well equipt. We enjoyed a pleasant evening in the bar and ordered some light snacks that were tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and very polite. On retiring to our room we found the bed was extremely large and comfortable so we had a good nights sleep with no disturbance. The best part was that we walked to and from the airport with our suitcases, and it only took 5 minutes. We did not have a breakfast in the hotel as we were going back to the airport to pick up a car to continue our travels. The check out in the morning and going to the car rental shop was painless thanks to the staff who dealt with us. It was just what we needed after our long journey and a pleasant experience as our first introduction to Australia. Overall an excellent location and good priced hotel suitable for short stays.
Wouldn't go back
Stayed here for a week for work reasons. Must say the airport location is quite sad if you are there for more than a night. Skybus is 25$ to the city (Spencer Street station). Room was quite big although the aircon was pretty poor. Outdoor pool, not heated so didn't use. Gym was quite smart. Bar was awful... very poorly designed and not 'personal' at all. Staff were helpful. Noisy in the night and people come and go at all times (doors close loudly so take earplugs if you wake easy!). Internet access was a rip off 30$ a day or 58c a minute. Multiply that be 8 days and you feel you are getting ripped off!! Wireless only avaiulable in reception and overly expensive (30 min blocks only available). Hotel price was reasonable though - 150 AU$ a night. I wouldn't go back there. Hope this helps someone else.
Excellent- Highly Recommended
I have stayed in a few hotels and this one by far rates as one of the highest. I am glad to finally find a hotel where you actually get valure for your dollar.
I stayed in a suite as I had previously stayed in the Hilton and it is still cheaper than the Hilton's standard rooms. I arrived there at about 11.30pm and another couple were there and had accidently caught the shuttle bus there instead of to the actual hotel they were booked at, and just from witnessing, the reception staff were very friendly to them, even ofering to arrange for transport to the correct hotel.
My check-in was smooth and fast, and the girls were very friendly!
The suite was very spacious, and whilst it did seem a tad dated, it was clean and very comfortable! The only issue I took was that the floor in the bathroom still had hairs on it (both kinds!)- but I just laid down a towel.
They have a great selection of teas and coffees. And for the girls, Red Earth toiletries!
I will be back!
Stayed the night before our flight. Normally we stay at the Hilton but could not get in as was fully book, so we thought we would try the Holiday Inn. Booked a king suite as this cost the same as a normal room at the Hilton.
Staff were very friendly and check in was quick and easy. Rooms were clean and desent size. Room had 2 bathrooms and a lounge room and also a small kitchen area with a bar fridge with coffee and tea facilities.
Free newspaper and shuttle to the airport that leaves every 15 minutes. You can easily walk to the airport which would only take a few minutes. McDonalds and gas station is located across the road. Will stay here again on our next trip.
Great value, ideal business or prior/after 'The Big Trip'
I've stayed here more than 10 times in the last 18 mths for business, and if you're looking for a comfortable, clean, reasonably priced and quiet space, this is it. Location is ideal - I grab my bags off the carousel and walk across the car park, 5 mins max, or if it's raining ( it is MEL after all..) dial up their free transfer.
The menu is changed regularly, restaurant staff are always friendly and I find the food tasty though don't order the room service " In A Bag " menu, ask for it to be plated, it's worth the $4. Free internet and colour laser printing in the business centre is great, the carpark is free (amazing) and whilst some of the hotel decor might not suit all tastes, inside the room is where it counts - uncluttered, modern and business and family friendly.
I've stayed at the Airport Hilton a couple of times too, but for the extra $50 or so dollars per night, I honestly struggle to find the value.
It does get busy though, especially during the Melbourne Cup and Formula One etc so if you can, book ahead.
The gym? Just a few walking machines and the pool is no great shakes but it's not a resort.
Good Hotel for the Money
This hotel was $119AUS and is close to the airport. Room was large, clean, and quiet. Food in restaurant was OK, service was slow.
Great very convenient airport hotel
Stayed here 8th October. Newly renovated hotel - about a 3-4 star rating. Around 10 levels high and most rooms reasonable views of surronding airport or city in distance. 5 minute walk from terminals or quick 2 minute courtesy bus ride. Rooms nice & fresh with one or two double beds, mini bar/fridge and small bathroom. Windows full width of room offer good light. T/V has inhouse (pay) movies and some cable channels (around 5 or 6 - news, sports, kids and general entertainment). Internet (pay) access available. Room service prompt (around 20 minutes) and reasonable priced (approx AUD$17 for a burger and fries) for a hotel. Restaurant/ coffee shop downstairs (staff very overworked at breakfast and it showed somewhat in their attitude - the only downside to the hotel). Your average buffet setup. Nice small but lively bar off the lobby - drinks good price - scotch and coke approx AUD$5-$6. Reception staff efficient and good. If you dont want to eat at hotel - a MacDonalds across the road and several eaterys in the airport including a PJ O'Briens Irish pub serving meals until 9pm (nice atmosphere). One bonus is this airport hotel has FREE parking onsite for guests - given charges at the airport carpark this is great for a place only a hop, skip and jump from the terminal (you are across the road from the terminal carpark). Overall, good place to rest overnight or a couple of nights - across the road from the more expensive Airport Hilton (which isnt bad in itself). Good prices can be had at the Holiday Inn website - got AUD$126 for Bed & breakfast (although this was a prepaid rate and a weekend rate) Normal rate on the site appears around AUD$150 room only weekdays.
Best Deal at Airport
I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Melbourne, then for one night before an early flight I stayed at the Holiday Inn Airport. Though I will never come back to Melbourne I am so happy I stayed here. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the airport which I could have walked in two minutes. I was told it has been reopened only a year and this was highlighted by the wonderful modern lobby, and comfortable rooms. Though the hotel was not very busy, I found it warm and so friendly. Check the internet for great deals as I did.
Very Comfy and Affordable, Superb Airport Location
This hotel has been refurbished and renamed a few times in the past 10-15 years. Its now part of the Holiday Inn chain and is at its best. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and everything in them is new. Decorated in very modern taste, colors, comfy beds, everything at your fingertips, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, safe etc. Its located right at Melb Airport - the shuttle is free to the domestic and international terminals, but its even in walking distance. The restaurant at the hotel is a bit pricey, but there is McDonalds right across the street! Very affordable with some internet deals. For the convenience of need somewhere to stay at the airport before/after a flight, 10/10 for location.

Another sleep in this morning before heading out around 9:30 for breakfast. I really felt like pancakes, so we headed back to Melbourne Central to grab some. It was an invigorating way to start the morning as it was freezing cold - but with sunshine and no wind. My many layers kept me warm and toastie! Now full, we ambled through a few more shops, …
Went and checked out the new house again and got some more photos then back to house to collect Nic and off to Melbourne. Wendy, Grant and the kids all had plans anyway so we didn't want to hold them up too much. Got a bit confused with road maps at one stage so spotted a McDonalds and decided to have some lunch and work out where we were. Just as …

Unfortunately things didn't go to plan with our drive when we missed our first critical turnoff. After 10 minutes driving in the back streets (thank you Sally, our trusty satnav), we finally ended up back on track only to miss the very next turnoff. A further ...
