... some more time window shopping (and a little bit of actual shopping) I headed back to my hotel to drop of my purchases and make use of the magically working wifi to research and book a bit more of my trip. That sorted, I went out into the cold again to do some proper walking.

So it was about 9.40am before I got out of my pit, and got washed and dressed. We then decided to go and get some exercise, so we went up and did five laps (equivalent to one mile) round the promenade deck in the crisp air.

Then it was back to our cabin to get our Fred Olsen ...

... but here we are also seeing a lot of construction in slate. And this was when we discovered the National Slate Museum. In it’s heyday, there were a lot of slate mines in Wales – some were underground mines and some were open-cut mines. Most of the mines have now closed, but only three remain open. At the Slate Museum, we saw how they would cast all the pieces of metal that were needed to mine, prepare and move the slate. We also saw ...
