Sydney and Sharks and Dugongs

We only had the one day in Sydney before going to Fiji so we hadn't planned to do a whole lot, get a haircut, try and fix my suitcase and such. But we ended up at Darling Harbor with our few small chores done and time on our hands so we went to the aquarium. The aquarium is quite nice. They have an excellent selection of their river fish to see. Sadly for me, river and lake fish just do not thrill me much. I love the colors of salt water fish, so vibrant,...

Back to OZ

Flew back into Sydney from Nadi, Fiji last night. Non eventful flight which is always wonderful. We were not in window seats so we couldn't get a view of Fiji as we left or of Sydney as we came in but also OK as we were in exit rows so had plenty of room.
Had to give the Pacific Blue crew points for humor. The flight attendant in charge got our attention for the flight safety briefing and then again for the landing briefing. She threatened us with being made to stay behind and help them ...

Babbling Bus Drivers

Babbling Bus Drivers

We've taken several bus tours in Australia now, in all the locations where we have been: Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs, Sydney and Uluru. The tours pick you up at your hotel in the morning or afternoon, everyone else gets collected and then the driver puts on a headset and starts with the patter. In all cases, the driver has known his stuff (never had a woman on any of the tours) so that part is good but apparently the drivers have been told not to allow any silent...

On the other hand - good value

And on the other hand – good value

Needed to fill the afternoon so we decided to visit the Powerhouse Museum. We had skipped this museum our first time in Sydney as it looked like it might be geared to kids but my hubby wanted to see a couple of the exhibits so we went. This place was really a good museum and good value too as it only cost $10 to get into the museum – possibly the cheapest place we have been in Australia.

It has a wide variety of exhibits and some ...

My husband left a few minutes ago to return to work at the ***** Delta in *****ia. Not my happiest time by a long shot. As soon as he leaves, I get lonely and miss him t**ribly. Moving out

Moving out and onward today. Sort of going east in a westerly direction. Will be in Manila, Philippines tonight but to get there I have to go through Hong Kong. Doesn't matter, the ticket was free! Yippee. Gotta love building up those miles.

10 flights and then Kaput

Purchased a lovely ceramic bowl in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. As it was too heavy to ship back to my home base, I have been carefully carrying it around in my suitcase. It has been well padded with clothes and wrapped in multiple layers of paper. So I went through 10 flights with no problems and then finally on the flight from Ayers Rock Resort to Syndey, the bowl bit the dust. Opened my suitcase in the hotel last night and it was toast. Maybe 20 pieces or more, certainly too much ever glue back...

Beach bums and Surfer Dudes

... watching the dudes surfing and the ladies sunbathing, think were going to wait til its a little warmer before attempting some surfing. We were getting cold so headed back to Bondi town and had a wander around the shops ...
