... view of the cliffs! Up Winnie climbed as high as she could go and perched us high atop the cliffs for the night. Very windy, but so beautiful we'll put up with the wind for a night! We headed up further on foot through the short little forest that is stunted from the winds off the ocean, picking wild strawberries along the way! Back at camp we warmed up and then watched a full moon come up as the sun was setting! What a fabulous ...

... to stake down the tent. We huddled in our canvas home for another couple of hours, falling asleep on and off, until we decided that we might as well just get up and go. Tent pack up and take down was relatively quick, and we were on the road heading to the Newfoundland ferry by 8:15. Even though the sailing wasn't until 11:00, we had to be there by 9:00 to claim our reservation.

We stopped for a quick fill-up of gas, and enjoyed ...

... made of rounded mountains [glaciers took care of that], forest of alpine trees [ short] and swamps [great for moose - but we have not seen any yet].


We set up the trailer and took about a 3 hr nap [ not the best sleeping on the ferry - not like our comfy bed]. After an early dinner we drove toward Pt St George.

... apart, with the strangest white stone constructions in their front yards. Looked like stones cemented together into odd formations, then painted white and some even had little red spots painted on them. Whoever lives in those houses has a serious hobby - other than lobster fishing, what else would a person do out there? ...

First night in Newfoundland

So it is now 4:20 a.m. and we have been ready since 3:00 to board our ferry. That's when they made the announcement to prepare for boarding. They have boarded most of the cars, it is just the campers and big rigs left. We all managed to get a few hours of sleep in Debbie and Jim's trailer, thank goodness.
Finally we are moving! It is now 4:50, I don't think the ferry will be leaving at 5:00. Boy, this ferry thing is a whole long process! It takes a huge amount ...
