... water fountians of different shapes and sizes along the way. It ended in a large park dedicated to the steel industry. Sounds ugly, but there were more free museums, and it was actually pretty (except for the large furnace stacks). <br><br>Heading back to the bus stop, and thinking we perhaps should have booked an earlier bus out of town, we started poking around looking for a resturant for dinner. Oddly enough, all the ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico kimandjohnThe whole stay here has just been strange. The first morning here I preached in a church - in spanish! First time since 2006! Even though I took out my guages and put in clear spacers, they asked me to take them out, as well as my eyebrow ring. They said I need to be "all things to all men" although that is not what it is talking about. The ministry gave us a nice little apartment for 5 days (full of cockroaches) in a ...
Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico robandmillie... city surrounded by mountains on 3 sides. It is absolutely breathtaking. <br> As we were about to head out the door, we were greeted by Jim, the leader of the base. He said,"Wanna evangelize?" We looked at eachother and went upstairs to pray about it. We didn't feel either way, but we came to the conclusion that "Hey, that's what we are here for!" So first he took us to his house to have a sandwich and meet his wife ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico millieradostiWe spent a great 5 days in Monterrey. A really lovely city, different to what we expected. Its an industrial town so we expected factories etc but they are all in the suburbs. The city is suurounded by a beautiful backdrop of mountains that the locals are very proud of and very much represent their city. However, the best thing about Monterrey was the people we met. Of ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico dixieannie... and is in one of the safest neighborhoods in all of urban Mexico. And the landlady, who speaks perfect English, is super nice. She has been essential to me adjusting to everything around here - she took me grocery shopping, let me borrow an extra cell phone of hers, and so forth... That's about all I have for now. I wanted to let you know that I will miss you all dearly and hope that you can come visit me in Monterrey! Cuídate!

Monterrey, Mexico kiwi_kid... i seen caves of this size before. we saw stalactites and stalagmites, in one place even the two meeting right in the middle! in one room of the cave there was a hole in the ceiling 200 or so meters up, and below was a stalagmite called the Christmas tree, decorated with lights... it was pretty amazing. Rodolfo, a friend of ours, said that a path that went off from where the guide was guiding us went to a lake inside the ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico jhaddon... want to take any pictures at because Maria said it was slightly dangerous to have my camera out... it was a huge market though, with everything you could think of to buy. the food smelled so tasty but Maria said i wouldn't survive if i ate some. after that we picked up Maria's friend Sandy and went to another market where there was live music then we went to a large strip mall
Monterrey, Mexico ojve... I hardly knew. Anyway, it was also I think a small example of how, generally, people are taken in as part of the family. The welcome and hospitality I have been shown was amazing. People I didn't know from Adam (or Eve) gave me their phone numbers and said contact any time if I needed help, I was given food and water and generally made to feel very welcome. Some people expressed great gratitude for me being there, which made me feel a bit weird too. Anyway ...
