    ... They were everywhere. In fact I tripped on a couple so desperate they were to eat their crumbs they don't move out of the way very fast.

    It was late afternoon by this stage and we needed to get to Verona to check in to the next hotel. So we retraced our steps to the Metro, and found our car exactly where we had left it - wheels all in tact, no graffiti and no traffic tickets - woohoo!

    A short 90 minute drive and we were in the fair city ...

    ... up at the Yacht Club Como and enjoyed a great lunch on the balcony before spending a slow afternoon walking around town. But while eating lunch we discovered that the local paper had covered my arrival!



    We even managed to find a local cinema, but clearly, with scenery like this.... Movies aren't at the top of the priority list....

    ... afternoon, Nathan, Tilly and I, had our first of what I hope will be many excursions into Milan. We took the bus from near our apartment to a metro stop and then the metro to the Duomo. It was pretty surreal to climb the stairs out of an underground train station see the enormous cathedral gradually emerge, step by step. We wandered around the shops and I took them to "Panzerotti Luini" which was as amazing as the first time and slightly less busy! Then we went for Nathan ...

    ... or statues that were intricate. The roof was like its own sculpture garden with thousands of old sculptures.
    At the very top, they also added some modern sculptures, which look pretty new.

    ... 8217;s another beautiful Tuscan day…….The drive to Milan is a good 3 hours and although we plan to take the motorway we have to get to it first which involves a fairly windy trip over the amazing Apuan Alps. When we got to the top we found stunning views over the marble mountains out to the Mediterranean.
