We left town and drove south on highway 78 through a landscape literally dotted in gorgeous glassey lake. Reflections like no other. Trees trees trees with autumn colours already at this latitude. But best of all reindeer on the side of the road. Beautiful healthy animals. Quite a long days driving but very scenic. We stopped for coffee in a market place in a small town on a lake. After that, another short drive to the much larger Turkansaari Open-Air Museum, which had over 40 buildings showcasing ...

We followed the Lonely Planet recommendation and explored the Taidemuseo modern art gallery, which turned out to be very good. The best part was surprisingly the quilt exhibition, featuring a number of U.S. quilt artists. There were other exhibitions as well, and we spent an enjoyable couple of hours ...
