... what made the house visit special was the 91 year old lady who gave us a personal tour. She used to live in this house and told us stories from the war time and how she remembered Marja's dad as a child. She said he (Marja's dad) was asked by the soldiers to look after the rations while they went for lunch and coffee. He would stand protective and proud until they returned. Visiting this small and private museum was a great hi-light ...
... Got Talent haha. When we landed -smoothly this time- we all had a conversation about last week’s landing in Kuusamo ;O)
The Aurora Borealis made one last appearance to wave us off, on the right hand side of the plane. I'm surprised we didn't tilt due to the scramble to get within view of a right hand window. Those who missed the chance to experience it while we were at Basecamp were very happy bunnies :D
... t get back until almost 8pm, going straight into dinner on our return. It is now after 11pm, and I need a shower and bed me thinks. I am having oodles of fun, but I'm tired today. Tomorrow, we build quinzees on the edge of the frozen lake, with the possibility of spending the night in one, which will be tiring too, but at least everything has stopped aching after the ice climbing attempt :O/
Only three days remaining. This week is whizzing by... ...
Each night, the time after dinner is ours to do what we want with. We could choose to go to bed early. We could just go to our rooms and read, if we didn't want to sleep. Most of us seem to just hang out in the main hall and amuse ourselves as a group. Some people get the Jenga out, some talk amongst themselves, some read, iPads and laptops make ...
... but they are also good at hugs and kisses. Best. Day. EVER!
On the ride back to Basecamp, everyone was still buzzing. We spotted a little old dude on a kicksled too, which got us quite excited haha. A lot of us said if it wasn't for the frozen fingers / toes -plus the hefty price tag- we'd be back out there for the whole day of dog sledding on Saturday. Might start training Jasper up... it would never work, though -he'd be on the sled with me ...
