First stop on the trip...an old stomping ground.

... disappeared from our views. 4.5 hours later we landed in Sydney and then collected our bags and headed off on the train to Circular quay. 20mins later we then hopped on the Manly ferry and headed off to our first home in Australia. Sat on the ferry we took in the sights of the Opera house and the Harbour bridge before landing in Manlys wharf. Both of us were starving so went to the Ivanhoe for a bite ...

the flights....and the homecoming

... which means im gonna have to sit around london for six hours.
i go through customs in LAX, which is getting really irritating at this stage, because aparently, the americans dont know how to queue, or how the metal dectors work, and there are actually people opening the barrier fabric lines and letting themselves in anywhere they want. im starting to notice that tiredness and grumpy grimesy is here, and if much else ****** him off, he's gonna loose it.

Grenzen

... Zeit verbringe.

... harbour with the bridge and opera house that I actually felt like I was there. On a map Sydney looks very confusing but I actually felt as if I got to know it really well in just my first week. After my 6am flight from Tasmania I didn't feel much like doing anything when I arrived in Sydney but I know sitting in a dorm room not talking to anyone isn't the way to meet people. So I went on a city tour with some people from the hostel. It was a really good ...

Heading Down South to Sydney

I've quickly passed my time here in Cairns and I am headed back to Sydney in the morning. The plan is to meet up again with the Normans, head out to the Blue Mountains and maybe catch a good Friday service at Hillsong. Time is going by way too fast!

... do! After a good night in London (thanks Sabina, Rupa and Ghal!!) I survived the long journey and the fighting women on the plane and arrived in Sydney. It felt unreal to be picked up from Sydney airport by Jaana who is my friend from Finland (whom I met 10 years ago in France while we were doing the same summer job) and now lives here with her boyfriend Sanil. We stayed in touch all those years, only saw eachother again once in ...

... job but thought we'd give Manly Seaside a practice run on how to cope when we leave ( Not very well judging by the amount of missed calls and voicemails). I think they'll fall apart at the seams without us. Honestly, these guys couldn't run a bath. We didn't get much of a lay-in though because the boys were beating on our bedroom door at about 9.30 to say goodbye. We dragged our asses out of bed and went to give them a good send off as they wedged themselves ...

Freaky February

... another week of powerful antibiotics to be taken orally. They could be put on hold for the weekend so all was not lost. We were off work for a few days so the next day we decided to head into the city to do a jobsearch. We had another interview with another recruitment agency. It was boring but it gave us quite an appetite so we headed to a restaurant in Darling Harbour for $10 steak and chips. It was Katie's birthday after all. We had a lovely meal and a bottle of wine ...

Our last week in Sydney

... it's just shopping arcade but the building really is rather super, even down to the astonishing pissoir in the Gents which I had to photograph for you whilst risking arrest. Lunch and non-stop talking was followed by a promenade around the building until we parted company and we went to ride the lift 1,000 feet up in The Sydney Tower. The views across the city from up there are just amazing and we were fascinated to watch the P&O cruise ship Pacific ...
