Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore
I stayed at the Quorum for 2 nights while in town on business. The wi-fi made doing work in the hotel very easy and its proximity to the airport was a plus. Overall I had a great stay at the hotel and would recommend it to others.
Some people must be very hard to please if they do not like this hotel. I stayed there as a lone female on July 1st and felt very comfortable. I arrived at 7am and was immediately able to check into my room, which was very clean and well decorated. The entire hotel is very tastefully decorated with lovely pictures on all the walls. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. There was a Sony radio/cd alarm clock in the bedroom, so if people need to get away early they should use this and not just rely on a wakeup call. Any one can make a mistake, nobody is perfect. The transport to the airport is very useful and goes every 30minutes.
The food was very good (especially the crab dip mmmm!!!) A good selection of both hot and cold food was available at breakfast.
The pool area was always kept very clean and tidy.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone. In my opinion., first class.
4 Star? You have to be Dreaming!
This place is advertised as a 4 Star hotel. Don't believe it. This is a renovated Howard Johnson (per the cab driver) that still has dated fixtures, uncomfortable beds, and poor service. Just an old hotel that needs updating. Probably couldn't make it as a national franchise.
We recently had to spend the night in Tampa, so we bid on a room through Priceline. The hotel which accepted our bid of $70 was The Quorom Hotel located 5 minutes from the airport. As we had never heard of Quorom, we didn't know what to expect. Luckily, we were treated to a fabulous stay in an extremely clean and nicely decorated room with the most comfortable bed (king size with a comfy comforter which I wanted to take home!!) The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We chose not to venture outdoors for dinner because of a huge downpour, so we ate in the hotel dining room. Again, we were amazed that the food was incredibly delicious and the waiter superb. Breakfast buffet the next morning was again delicious and plentiful (approx, $10/pp). There was a complimentary airport shuttle from the hotel featuring a driver who knew the ins and outs and shortcuts to the airport through heavy duty traffic. We highly recommend this hotel. If not using Priceline, usual rates are approx. $189/night.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat
I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It was wonderful. The location was convenient-only a few minutes from the airport. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the beds were so comfortable that I looked at the mattress before we left in the hopes of buying one for home!
Missed our honeymoon flight
My wife and I stayed at this hotel because it was near the airport and we had an early flight to take us on our honeymoon. However, we never received our requested wake-up call so we missed our flight. Even worse, when we called the desk staff to request a taxi they never apologized for forgetting our wake-up call. To make matters worse yet again, while we were waiting outside for our cab we talked to two other people to whom the desk staff also had forgotten to give their wake-up calls.
Excellent Value for Money
The folks at this hotel took very good care of me. The service was excellent, staff was friendly, everything was clean and new, and teh food was great.
I was running a meeting for a fairly large group and everythingw as well planned and taken care of.
Would definitely stay here again.
Great Location, Clean and Comfortable.
I was worried to stay in this hotel because I am not familiar with this 'brand' or chain. It turns out that I had no reason to worry. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, freshly remodeled. The concierge was quite accommodating with our group's numerous requests for shuttle transportation to restaurants and venues around town. We also took advantage of the hospitality hour. Drinks were free for an hour and a half then the moved to happy hour pricing which were a good deal. I can not comment on the food from the restaurant because did not purchase any items from the menu. The pool and spa were somewhat small but clean and comfortable. Bathroom included Bath and Body Works products.
Location was close to many restaurants and a short distant to downtown.
Clean, Comfortable Hotel convenient to airport and highways
My sister and I stayed at the Quorum for the weekend of Jan. 28, 2004. Location is great. Close to the airport and within 100 yards of I-275. The initial service was welcoming. The room was very clean. The beds and linens are so comfortable. We slept in both days to enjoy the pillow top mattresses.
The bar/restaurant is nice. Friendly staff, granite countertops and good martinis. Awesome calamari...dinners were not as awesome. Fish was overcooked and luke-warm. If you're there M-F, go to the managers reception and get a free chair massage along with free drinks and appetizers!
The only thing that bothered me was that none of the hotel staff knew how far local places were from the hotel, ie Clearwater or St. Petersburg. We found that odd.
Overall a great experience. Would stay here again!
Renovation Not Impressive
I recently returned from staying in Quorum for 3 nights. The overall experience was disappointing. Their website promises an entire renovation, high speed internet in rooms, wireless internet in lobby, along with a great fitness center. What I saw was a slightly cheap renovation, some new furnishings and guest room carpeting, high speed internet not working, wireless requiring log in passwords, and a dark, creepy walk though hallways to get to the ok fitness room. Staff was very pleasant overall, but the hotel is not up to par with the website. Most troubling was the 1980's soundtrack of terrible music booming in the elevators- who needs to listen to Sheena Easton and Duran Duran before you've had your cuppa joe?

So on the way from the the keys we had planned to stop off at this restaurant that my nan and grandad (tony and jenny) had visited on a family holiday about 30 years ago, Google said it was still there and I had heard good things about their French Onion Soup! So we are driving down a road and expected to see a little restaurant on the waterfront, it was only a small shack that had been described to us, turns out it was a massive restaurant now that caters up to around ...
... by what they can prevent or withhold from you where in American, we show it by showing what we can get or do for you. At times, it felt like American generosity was, while appreciated, expected and resented when absent. To me, America's best feature is (so far) it's unwillingness to let the past dictate the future. Of course humanity must learn from its past but to dwell on every bullet hole and feed the angst of mistakes past seems to necessarily bleed energy ...
Day one, up real early as I had a few things to do and wanted to watch F1 qualifying from Japan. Glenn arrived at 7:45am to take us to the airport, Gatwick this time :) the journey was a breeze, straight though no hold ups ? Checked bags in then through to duty free, Di made a beeline for a shoe shop and came out with a hot pair of over the knee black boots. Next stop Wetherspoons for ...

... Mama, which we both got, in the souvenir Fish Bowl. It was Ok, I think that was the only one for those I ordered.
Got our passes for the Spa for the duration. only thing they were missing in the Spa was the heated stone loungers, but we survived without them.
Our sailaway was right on time, and we headed towards blue water.
