... did not get to Lyon until 6.30 when it was incredibly dark but it did start snowing. We had a quick freshen up at the restaurant before we made our way into town to get dinner and try some fine French cuisine! We kind of had our own freedom to go wherever we wanted for dinner and we found a nice restaurant with an English menu and were quite happy to settle there. The food was some of the best I have had. I had pork pate for entree, beef with red wine ...

... for a drink with them so later we headed to the banks of the Rhône where there are boat bars moored with tables and chairs on the quayside. We went onto a boat to get a drink - it was so cool! Jailhouse Rock was playing and all the barmen were dancing around as they served drinks. I thought it was a shame to go outside again. The atmosphere was great with the 50's/ 60's music, the lively staff and the fact that it's a bar on a boat! It was ...

Up early this morning to be packed and down at breakie by 7am. Made it by 6.40am and finished off the last couple of days blogging/ photos, etc.
Got the bikes sorted and ready to roll for an 8am departure - which of course we didn't.
Had a lengthy debrief as this was to be a long ride of approx 170km and over 2000m climbing. and it was set to be a hot day - my challenge.
A quick phone call home and we headed out of Vichy about 8.20am. The plan was to pick up the Tour out ...
