... I would find a motel room but by then I was out of town so when I saw the sign for Amnicon State Park I turned to check it out.
It was beautiful, I found out in the morning. The campsite was private, large and quiet. I just slept in the back of the Prius so I did not have to bother with the tend. There was a fabulous hiking trail along the river and falls.
... We dropped in to see Gooseberry Falls on the way home and took a walk around as well... We stopped in for a late lunch at Knife River, Emily's Eatery. They had a great Oktoberfest menu and we enjoyed the view out the river to the lake. Duluth has a lift bridge at the mouth of the harbour. Stopped at WalMart on the way. We are regulars. Arrived to campground. Carter read they had a hot tub. No hot tub no wifi. Raining, we all took a nap. Drove into Duluth in the evening to see Lake Superior. The wind was blowing like crazy. Big waves and wind surfers. Ended eating at Mexican grille. Hungry for Mexican food. Pretty good. On our way into Superior Wisconsin, that is the across the river from Duluth MN, we saw a billboard advertising 20 year, 200,000 mile warranties on new Ford Cars. We couldn't believe our eyes. Closer to the bridge, we saw lake freighters in drydock, and others unloading or loading from grain elevators.
