Rode out today and travelled through lots of bayou country, miles of raised road through swamplands. Had lunch at Saltgrass Steakhouse, best ribs yet. Then I had to ask if there carrot cake was fresh, made daily on site sir! So I ordered one to share, check the picture, we could not finish it, it was very very good. Got into Corpus ...
... as E's flight was a couple of hours later.
D & G had just enough time to find their connecting gate in Newark at a brisk walk.
All in all, G had an absolutely wonderful time and she is glad that she came up with the idea of taking the grandkids to one of her favorite destinations. There were a few things we had planned to do that didn't get done, but we certainly did enough!

Yesterday was a trip south to Padre Island National Seashore. I don't know why it's not a National Park, but it's classified as a National Seashore.There are camping and picnic areas and an ongoing project to protect sea turtles. This is the sea turtle catch and release program, where nests are found during spring and moved to protected area untl they hatch and are released. This park was worth the visit and much nicer than Mustang Island ...
... While in Aransas, we stopped in the visitor center and mentioned the overcast skies and wind. The ladies there explained we were getting smoke from the burning cane fields in Mexico and the volcano which erupted on May 8th was sharing the ash with Texas.
