Great affordable hotel!
My husband, my two kids, my brother, my sister, and I, rented two rooms at the Best Western Greentree from 8/10-8/12. We were very happy with the hotel! All of the staff was very pleasant, from the front desk clerks to the housekeepers. Check-in went very smoothly. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the beds were very soft (Serta pillow-top mattresses). The pool was clean and fairly warm. I didn't check out the hot tub. The free Internet access in the lobby was great! I used it to look up and print directions to various places. The breakfast buffet was pretty decent for being a "continental breakfast" - it had french toast, bagels, muffins, doughnuts, cereal and milk, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, orange juice, and coffee. The hotel is located right next door to a mall with a Giant Eagle and a K-Mart, convenient for buying late-night snacks. There is a Chinese restaurant and a deli next door to the hotel, and the mall has a food court, but I don't think it opens until the afternoon. There are a ton of fast-food restaurants and stores however, in the valley below the hotel - my husband stopped at the front desk of the hotel and asked where we could find some restaurants, and the clerk printed out directions for him from her computer. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel. If you are using an online map website to get directions to the hotel, be careful however, because one popular map website said the hotel is located off I-376, when it is in fact located off I-279S. My husband and I got terribly lost trying to find the hotel, until we found out that it is off 279. I recommend calling the hotel for directions before heading there.
Nice hotel with good staff
Convenient location - only a few miles from downtown PIT. They had a shuttle running since we needed to get to MLB All Star game.
Some confusion at front desk at times but it was a busy time due to the baseball game.
Breakfast buffet was adequate nothing fancy but its free.
Good internet access.
Hotel room had a great hot tub.
Parking can be a problem - there is a large office park/school in the same parking lot and it can be a hike from your car to the hotel.
Reasonable Hotel at a good price
This hotel is a nice, clean hotel in a safe area. It's located only about 2 miles from downtown Pittsburgh and offer free shuttle service to the downtown area. Although it is a 2-3 star hotel that will never be confused with a Hilton or Omni type hotel, if you can get a room for less then $100 a night it is a very good value. I have stayed here twice and had no complaints either stay. It's perfect for business in the Pittsburgh area or an inexpensive weekend get away. Not an ideal to place to propose to your future wife however...
None the less, it is what it is, recommeneded. I will stay there again presuming I can get a rate under $100 per night...
Wonderful - Very Clean!!
What a nice clean and comfortable hotel. Great pool and great carry out available. Around everything! Just a short trip to downtown!
Nice place, Nice price
I've stayed in 3 different Best Westerns, in the past two months, and this was the nicest, so far. Queen size bed was comfortable and room was clean. Continental breakfast had a lot of variety and was also very clean. They have the room and could use a restaurant on site (not many convenient places to eat in the area). Unfortunately did not have the time to check out the pool or fitness room.
Nice Hotel with Nice Pool & Whirlpool
Nice clean rooms with a nice pool.
Very nice continental breakfast.
Not a lot of places to eat around the area.
We stayed at the Parkway Center Inn the weekend of February 26, 2005 and had a WONDERFUL time! Our room which turned out to be a "suite" was super clean and well equipped! The "managers reception" in the evening (3 drinks per person) was a added bonus as well! My Mom went with my husband/daughter and I and her room was equally as nice, even though it was just a plain queen size room. The pool water was very warm and our daughter (age 6) was happy about that! The staff was the BEST!!! I even called the following Monday after our stay and asked to speak to the manager so I could tell her what a super staff she has....it was phenominal! Everyone from the front office staff, pool attendants, housekeeping....EVERYONE!! Super duper!
I would definately stay at the Parkway Center Inn again!
Clean hotel, staff ok
Ok hotel with free internet access. My room was small but comfortable. They have FREE contineltal breakfast. I asked for extra pillows and was able to get them. They are doing a remolding right now. I would stay there again.
Have stayed here many times over the years. Rooms are clean, staff courtious and the location is close to everything. Breakfast room was always well stocked. Don't waste time on inconvienent locations just to save a couple of dollars. If you are on a budget and looking for a great location to hop into Pittsburgh or out to the airport this is the place to stay. Let's face it, what we need is a good place to sleep, not to live in for 24 hours a day.
Okay i guess
This seems to be an older building - new carpets, though. Best was the staff here - very friendly, considerate and professional. But those air conditioners! Must have powered aircraft carriers originally, because they are OLD and LOUD. For the price, a pretty good place.

We spent our first night at the Holiday Inn Express in Belle Vernon, across from Hoss's.
We started the next day with an early morning breakfast at Eat'nPark with our PA friends. After breakfast, we went to see my Dad and grand parents' graves, and then we hit the road.
For the first part of our trip, we took the back roads through Mt Pleasant, Donegal, and more. At Breezewood we got on to the turnpike for the rest of the ride.
Aug 25-28 JNM (Sam in NY with Tony camping) Enjoyed our 3 night stay at Kate and Nik's: 5131 Penn Ave. Reminded us of the apt building in Alex. We did the Duck Tour, saw a lot of sights, Squirrel Hill walk around, bought teas, watched RedBox movies, and Highland Park. Not impressed with the slum feeling. Took 4 hours without traffic. Felt rested, enjoyed Maddie with us, and good to be ...
... to get the girl to understand I wanted the cup 3/4 full so I could put cold milk in. They even had a small bottle of cold milk for patrons to buy!
We then strolled along to a mall, where I found a place that said "Welcome to Pittsburgh". It was an information shop, and the young man there was very helpful.I'd read that this city also has "Ride the Duck" so I thought it would be fun to experience this again. Here it's called "just ducky trips"

I'm working on developing systems for traveling, sleeping, museum-hopping, exercising... it seems best to drive during the day and on back roads so I can maximize sight-seeing opportunities... it also turns out to be the safest way to go, so it's a double win.
Opting for the back roads, I stayed on Route 30 heading across ...
... most delicious. My favourite was the pepperoni roll and the mele. Most of the businesses we visited are family run and have been within that same family for many years. The owners came out and chatted with us, a couple were quite quirky characters to say the least! My final stop in Pittsburgh was to visit the Andy Warhol museum. Set over seven levels, it chronicles his early life and education in Pittsburgh through to his career and death in NYC. Some of the art was creatively ...
