... our drive was flat and dry as far as the eye could see. Until we got to the outskirts of Lubbock, rising up out of the flatlands was a cute little neighborhood. It had broad porches, neat little (green) yards, gas lamps burning on the porches, and a brick townhall. It felt like we had landed in the Stepford; everything was eerily perfect. I'm exaggerating, but only slightly (check out ...

Yesterday we took a trip to Taos. The change around Espanola and Velarde is incredible, it is amazing what the introduction of Casinos does to an area. Taos still has it's pretty square and a nice quilt shop, and Paul found a book shop. Today we did a long drive to Roswell and visited the Alien museum, then another long drive to Lubbock. Then through Texico (no kidding), right on the border between (would you believe) Texas and New ...

... ahead of us. We set off on a solid day of driving under blue Texan skies. The roads today were great as they were 1 and 2 lane highways through country Texas, with very minimal traffic compared to what we have been used to so far. Not really too much to say other than it was a nice scenic drive in the sun through rural Texas. Hopefully we'll be in Santa Fe by nightfall ...

... place (Llano Estacado) was also preparing for a function so we couldn't take a tour, but they have good wines, so I bought three bottles there. The third place (Cap Rock) was also preparing for a function but I had a tasting there also and bought two bottles. This winery is in a really neat building/setting. When we first viewed the building, we thought it was a church. As the day aged, it became warmer and sunny, but then as the day got even older ...
