    4. When I give her some banana, I always peel it for her and slice it. Today, as John carried her past the bunch of bananas, she reached out for one. John gave her the whole thing and next thing you know, she's got it peeled including those stringy pieces and has eaten half of it. Miss Independent!

    Our first stop on the road to South America was an overnight in Dallas, Texas on Spencer's B-day. So, I scouted out a famous BBQ place that was close to the airport and our hotel - Hard Eight Texas BBQ was it! We ordered a tray of meat - seriously. We chose a sampler tray of different meat including; beef brisket, chicken jalapeno poppers, spicy sausage, and some beef skewers plus we added corn on the cobb. Everyone's favorite was the beef ...

    ... clouds overhead. I checked the AWOS and, sure enough, it agreed. The field was now VFR and we loaded up for the trip out. We climbed out from RWY 16, turned right to the north, skirted the Navy airspace to the west, and navigated around very few wispy clouds at 1200-1500 feet AGL.     ... formerly known as the Confederate Air Force) in Midlands, TX, but they are closed on Sunday.

    So now we are in Fort Worth. We have a comfortable suite at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites at NAS Fort Worth (formerly Carswell AFB). We found a barbecue place for supper after we checked in - Dickey's Pit Barbecue. The food was good and plentiful, though a little more informally served than one would expect for the price.
