TravelPod's Snapshot

The Holiday Inn Express, formerly known as the Cass Hotel, is conveniently located on North Wabash Avenue, part of the bustling Magnificent Mile district. Its position in the heart of Chicago puts travelers next to the thriving downtown area and one block east from Rush Street's nightlife. Shopaholics will find Michigan Avenue, the home of Water Tower Place and the Nordstrom Mall, just two blocks away.

Satisfied visitors have praised the Inn's affordable tariffs, which are lower than most nearby establishments, like the Four Points by Sheraton or The James. Despite renovations in February 2013, the guest rooms retain a retro charm. What the hotel lacks in modern polish, it makes up for with old-fashioned hospitality. Guests report that the employees they met during their stay were friendly, courteous, and always willing to go the extra mile.

The hotel's on-site restaurant only serves breakfast, which is included in the room rate. Several Italian eateries and steakhouses are located within walking distance, to make sure hotel guests will never go hungry in the evenings. Additional perks like free high-speed Internet access, free local calls, satellite/cable television in all rooms, and an on-site fitness center help add value to this Holiday Inn.

This is the old Cass Hotel--opened many years ago when the room prices were $2! The rooms have been upgraded, but they are very small, typical of older properties.

The biggest problem was the door frame. The door was wedged tightly upon opening and closing. It had to be pushed and pulled on opening and closing.

There was no quick fix for this; but after getting to the right person, there was an adjustment made on the bill. The location is convenient--2 blocks from Michigan Avenue and lots of restaurants in the area.

... Another way to completely ruin your brochures would be to not divide the content into sections. Poor brochures typically have lengthy flowing paragraphs with no distinct sections or breaks. This will make the custom brochure a genuine chore to read, diluting its energy more than the reader. So try to always steer clear of this and divide your content material into appropriate sections. A educated sounding board. If ...

... the scale of the buildings, the city feels quite human and less imposing than New York City. The streets are wide and dotted with beautiful gardens. The waterfront areas are a feature also and some massive parks help to break up the city.

The girls enjoyed the view from the John Hancock building which was narrowly more interesting than the large pancakes they ate for breakfast.

We splurged a little (but got an AMAZING deal) and stayed in a SUPER fancy hotel RIGHT downtown.. AND my sister Anna even came over, wine and gourmet cupcakes in tow for a few hours. It was a great last night in the USA :) Until next ...

          ... cool. Rating - 7 of 10.

Tailgating - Since we arrived at the stadium as the game was starting, we really didn't experience any tailgating. I read of a tailgating lot, but we were far too late to find it. Considering we had to park about a mile north of the stadium and take a shuttle, I suspect the tailgating was fairly limited compared to a lot of stadiums. But, I can't really rate it for this game. Rating - NA of ...
