Monday was out planned Excursion day with big beards tours. It was one of the hottest days while we were on the Island, and I would have the sunburn to prove it. The morning started off really well, with a nice can ride into downtown Christiansted. We met our captain and his 2 deckhands on the giant catamaran sailboat Renegade around 9am, and set sail for Buck Island shortly thereafter. It was about a 40 minute trip ...

After our time was finished with them we continued down to spend Christmas with the Zeek family. We spent much of the day there and with lots of wonderful food. Kristen even made me her FAMOUS chicken salad:-) She is AWESOME! I was so happy that my family liked their gifts esp. my mom (she is always so hard to shop for).

... of a song called "American Tears" which was sung by a group of elementary school students between games. While this may have been marginally better than the absolutely TERRIBLE performances by four or five groups of baton twirlers, it was still so maudlin it made my teeth hurt. And the lyrics make no sense at all. There's a bunch of stuff about American heroes and American pioneers and then the chorus ends with "And ...

... it was back out on the crazy road.

Once we got past Philadelphia the traffic got better. It is interesting to pass through so many states in a short amount of time...Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey. Double that amount of time driving in Texas and you would still be in Texas. Getting into New Jersey the scenery became very pretty - green, just a bit hilly, farms and fields, vegetables sold by the side of ...
