10 Tran Hung Dao Hoi An, Vietnam, 84-510-861-728

Hoi An, is a small port city. Everything you ever wanted Asian that is not electronic you can get in this city. Paintings, Lanters, etc. They also have a ton a tailors here that make clothes based on your measurments. I have having two button down shirts and a pair of jeans made for me. Total cost is 43$. The city its self is not that impressive you can walk around the entire old quarter in about a half an hour.
Hoi An, Vietnam aaronmk2 We were up early, grabbed some brekkie (rank bread, rank rice, lovely fruit & juice) and we set off to walk around the UNESCO heritage old town.
The sun was out which really made the harbour area look pretty spectacular.
The streets here are generally fairly attractive, but not as beautiful as the guide books make out.
There is the odd group of tourists around, but generally it's quiet, just the way we like it.
To visit the old ...
World Cruise Tuesday, March 13 Chan May, Vietnam 7am-7pm Excursion: Da Nang and Hoi An, 8 hours bus & walking, $99 each This port is apparently not often used for luxury cruise ships. The pier is a sharp contrast to the three-level upscale shopping mall that was the cruise terminal in Hong Kong. We were awakened at 7am, on arrival, by enthusiastic local music and dancing (our balcony was on the pier side). There were vendors set up on the pier, and you can see that that was pretty much it...
Chan May, Vietnam cynjohnI should have known this was going to be no easy bus trip.... I should have known, when the driver took a newspaper and wound it into his side window to shade the sun. Sports section facing him, Euro 2008 the news. Does he too have to read on the long journey ahead? Should I give him a pen for the crossword? I have only one, but pens are pretty cheap in these parts. I shold have known, the driver looked to young, full of inexperience and the bouldness of youth. It was obvious, his overtaking ...
Quy Nhon, Vietnam fredthelegendToday I woke up early to go and visit 'ANNAS' Tailor shop. The plan was to pop in here to have some fittings for a couple of things then to head off to the beach! Well I went there at 8am and left at 2pm! Ordered lots, from bags to shoes, trousers, tops, dresses and loads more. Its really good here so if your reading this and you are going to Hoi An, i definatly recommend Annas! After all the fittings me and Ann-Lou rented a bike and made our way to the beach which is about 15 mins up hill, o...
Hoi An, Vietnam jaime.hartiganA wonderful place. Beautiful European architecture and character mixed with the wondrous Veit markets and culture. So photogenic. Great beaches, wonderful food options, we had a perfect crew gathered up to enjoy all it had to offer...And got to love all those aged ladies with cracked faces and deep set eyes shaded by the ubiquitous but still exotic conical hats. From my journal: Hoi An, beautiful French inspired architecture, fading brilliant colors, cafes, baked goods, best market I've seen ...
Hoi An, Hoi An, Vietnam sonicbridgesWe left on Wednesday for a retreat to Hoi Anh for a few days. It was great; even though it rained the whole time we were there. We saw silk factory and even got to play with silk worms. We ate traditional food from Hoi Anh called Cao Loa. It's simply one of the best dishes I have ever had in my life. I eat it a lot in Da Nang, but to have it from the city that specializes in it, oh man! I had two bowls, it was so good! After eating we walked around, went for a swim in the pool, and watched s...
Hoi An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam spidey788Da Nang and Hoi An We were scheduled to dock in Chan May,which is mid-way between Hue and Da Nang, facilitating tours to both places. However, during the night the northern monsoon winds picked up and officials closed the port of Chan May, leaving Da Nang as the only option. Lou was up on deck during the docking maneuvers and it took Captain Dag four attempts to counter the strong winds pushing us away from the dock. Think of the ship as a roughly 75' x 500' sail, collecting all of that wind....

... long houses. Of course, lots of these traditions are being watered down now as society changes, but the practice is still widespread. As we headed for Da Lat, we saw lots of M’Nong villages, as well as beautiful scenery. We stopped at an ethnic textile factory where the girls are employed by a man who has a shop in Ho Chi Minh City. Their conditions seemed excellent and the girls working there seemed content. We also went to a silk manufacturer and saw what they do with ...
Hoi An, Vietnam markrob... on and pretty much every single piece was totally off. I couldn't even pull the dress down over my hips. This was quite unsettling since they took measuments and have been in the buisness for quite some time. In the end, we had to go back for alterations about 4 times until the pieces all fit and there were still some things we were unhappy with.
After our first horrible experience with trying on our pieces we decided we couldn't go with them for ...
