      Liking the Upgrade

Checked in to the hotel and given Room 111 which is a lucky number apparently. Certainly lucky for us as we were upgraded to a poolside villa! Lovely room looking over the pool - fabulous. Only weird thing is that the shower is in the same cubicle as the toilet - I guess if you're short of time in the morning you can shower and go to the loo at the same time!

Flew from Hanoi to Danang, just over 1 hour and were picked up at the airport and driven to Hoi An approx 50 minute drive. Very different from Hanoi, much quieter and less traffic. Checked into the hotel, unpacked and went for a swim. So refreshing. Dinner in Orchid Garden really nice. Little supermarket next door - bought gin, vodka, coke & …

... Couture, I'm not really a suit person but we spent ages in there and did make a couple of purchases, we will see as I was way out of my comfort zone. On the way back the heavens opened, never seen rain like it, wet flip flop running is an art which I haven't mastered yet. Had a lightning bolt moment today, I've known for a while that I'm not enjoying this trip at all, the only people I get on with are Mat and Nicole, the others are nice enough but so old and so ...

We have 3 free days to relax and enjoy the amazing Nam Hai as well as explore Hoi An. It's the weekend in Vietnam and it's crazy busy with the town expected to be unbelievably crowded with both local and overseas tourists visiting for the mid Autumn festival, with Sunday night expected to be the 2nd busiest night of the year. Lazy days at the resort, runs on the beach early enough to see either the catch from the fishing boats landed, or ...

... running out of hand because all these nice little houses are transformed into: museums, snack bars, coffee houses, restaurants, shoemakers, tailors, leather shops, etc. Hoi An is famous for its tailor made clothes, shoes and bags. Mainly leather shoes and suits are popular businesses. Also for us :-). I am very fond of tailor made clothes and the nice thing is that in countries like Thailand and Vietnam it's not more expensive than in Belgium going to H&M! In Thailand is ...
