    Liking the Upgrade

Checked in to the hotel and given Room 111 which is a lucky number apparently. Certainly lucky for us as we were upgraded to a poolside villa! Lovely room looking over the pool - fabulous. Only weird thing is that the shower is in the same cubicle as the toilet - I guess if you're short of time in the morning you can shower and go to the loo at the same time!

Flew from Hanoi to Danang, just over 1 hour and were picked up at the airport and driven to Hoi An approx 50 minute drive. Very different from Hanoi, much quieter and less traffic. Checked into the hotel, unpacked and went for a swim. So refreshing. Dinner in Orchid Garden really nice. Little supermarket next door - bought gin, vodka, coke & …

Good thing it was in the middle of the shop where everyone else can see. Given that we were only there for a couple of nights, we had to be quick to get the order started and inevitably Sean ended up getting an extra suut made. We went back about 4 times for fittings and alterations. In the end we were very happy with ...

After that, rested up jumped on a old ladies scooter and she drove me to the bridge for $1. Hoi An is beautiful, spectacular looking and relaxed. Plenty tourists around. Met the French couple again, we sat and had a beer. Good chat, very nice couple. Walking back over the bridge, ...

... Japanese Covered Bridge it is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Hoi An. It is a great example of the Japanese architecture of the period. The bridge was constructed in the 17th century by the Japanese community of Hoi An, in order to create a link with the Chinese quarters across the stream. Over the centuries the ornamentation of the bridge has remained relatively faithful to the original Japanese design. The bridge was constructed with a roof so that it could be ...
