... gable that looked like the back end of a sailing ship belonged to the shipowners' guild. Even though the Grand Place is a large open space, it feels closed in and a bit claustrophobic (though that could be because of all the people milling around).

I ate lunch at Exki with Christian, Rolinka, Heidi and four or five others. I had a nice pasta salad and lemon water, but I was eyeing Heidi's yummy-looking quiche. Ventured out after that to find the HEMA ...

... town square but this year the council had paid an artist a lot of money and this was the end result. Four euros and you could catch the lift to the top or walk up. I'm sure councillors would have been patting each other on the back when they discovered a new way to wring a few more euro's out of the visitors. I didn't sleep well last night, waking at around 2.30 and not really getting doing more than dozing after that. I did watch lots of teleshopping adverts on the hotel tv instead. I now have a real desire to buy a steam washer, garden canopy and an Aah Bra!

Getting on the Eurostar was so much easier than travelling through an airport. We still went through passport control and security but then it was straight onto the train ...

... and some other neat things ( I don't really remember what). I tried some great Belgian chocolate, and there biscuts filled with chocolate which were sooo good! A group of us went out to eat and I got noodles of course. Then we went back to the bar and hung out there th rest of the night. Sunday we just got up, got breakfast, and took the train home. Overall a very successful weekend!
