01 Han Mac Tu Quy Nhon, Vietnam
I keep reminding myself that this is an adventure and when the opportunity presents itself--take it. So when Hoa said she was going to visit her mother and 11 brothers and sisters and did I want to come, I said sure. We left Nha Trang for Quy Nhon (pronounced something like "William") on the Reunifcation Express train that runs from Saigon to Hanoi. We arrived after four hours yesterday morning and went straight to a sister's house. Another Vietnamese lunch followed and more slow conversation...

I tried the walk off trick and he let me go. I saw nothing else coming and walked back with 50,000 in my hand, we settled at 60,000 Dong.
The bus was already full, but there isn’t such thing as a full bus in Vietnam. I have to remind myself that I have no time constraint, I mean, there will come a time when I need to go back and make some money. But right now I’m here to be happy and to live in the now. Not the future, and definitely not in the past. But now.

My train of thought is interrupted by a small boy on a bicycle with one flat tire. He says "Hello….my name...my name is Jun." Quy Nhon, Vietnam annandrewabroadOur bus abandoned us in a petrol station somewhere out of Quy Nhon. We managed to negotiate a moto-taxi each. Normally they put your backpack in front of them, between their legs and resting on the handle bars, but the bikes seemed smaller, or our packs have got that much bigger?!?!??!. We ended riding with our packs resting on our knees between us and the drivers... every corner we thought we were going to fall off. Credit to the riders ...
Quy Nhon, Vietnam sedge_and_dave... we were in Borneo - I hope that helps a bit with the jeolousy. This won't though. Because of what I'd witnessed the day before on the main beach, I decided to go a bit further afield and look for one with a little less excrement. I know my superlative's are getting a bit boring and that I'm not good at explaining just how amazing the scenery is but I'm no Hemingway, so if you want to understand what it really looks like, watch ...
Quy Nhon, Vietnam dolly_would...... swastika; even though we have seen so many now, it still makes me think of the nazi contonation, which is a shame. The pagoda was originally constructed in 1715 and is decorated with flamboyant dragons, made from glass, which flank the staircase up to the first floor balcony. Housed at opposite ends are a giant drum and bell. Very iconic symbols in all pagoda's. Day 3. As it was malaria tablet day (such a joyous day it is), we thought a little ...
