Soon the mother and daughter emerged with giant plates of food - fish, rice, shrimp, sauce, vegetables, and tea. They showed us how to make rolls and we feasted as they kept bringing out more and more food. We ate until we were full and then returned to our hammocks for a couple beers while the young daughter practiced her English with us, and taught us a bit of Vietnamese.

So having once again been scammed by being shown a room for $6 then told they had no key for that room the one above is $8, does anyone know why a room up more flights of stairs is more expensive I give up understanding I'm gonna live in a bungalow give my legs a rest. Go up 5 flights its $15 you get a better nights sleep because your so exhausted by the time you get there.

Now John not feeling so great in the tummy so he is relaxing in our room, while I had dinner with friends we have made on the trip. A few weekends ago I took a long delayed road trip to Ninh Binh Province. This trip was rescheduled twice but one recent Saturday morning we finally were able to get everyone interested on the same page with available dates.
This road trip was a 3-4 hour drive south of Hanoi and included a visit to one of the largest temple areas in Asia and the biggest in Vietnam. It also included a trip to Cuc Phuong National Forest where we stayed the night.

... there's lots of smoke in the air from time-to-time as well. I don't even look like a goober either because nearly everyone is wearing them. Very fashion-forward here in Vietnam. After about 45 minutes or so we arrive at Cuc Phuong, where I pay $1 entry fee and $2.50 for a guide at the Endangered Primate Center.
