The Machipongo Indians, whose artifacts have been found in the soil, lived here in 1656 when English settlers arrived. The steamboat Tuckahoe travelled here from New York City beginning in 1884. Currently in Fishing Bay which is probably one day sail to the entrance to the Atlantic. If wind is OK we will go outside and Kitty has to learn to whooper & whisser on the boat as we have a 36 to 45 hour passage to make.
