Second stay here, consistently good place. Plenty of space and well appointed for a French hotel. Service is always pleasing.

Third time over six years I have been to this hotel. The food is good, the rooms clean and spacious and the internet connection is efficient. The hotel bar and dining room have a fantastic outlook over the Alp and down to the valley below. If travelling with a bike, the hotel catres for all cyclists needs including bike storage and arranging pre and post-ride massages if required. Great stuff.

This is my third stay at Pic Blanc, and the rooms are newly renovated, and the service welcoming (they even recognised us at reception). Just a quality establishment, with great facilities.
We are here to ride the Marmotte Gran Fondo, and this hotel looks after cyclists very well.

Our last full day in Alpe d'Huez is another belter. Awoke at 7am to see the sun streaming in through the window. Not a hint of a cloud anywhere....just the way I like it, home or away.

I was planning to get a reasonably lengthy ride in today, +100kms and then put the bike away until the Etape du Tour on Sunday. Us old codgers …

We leave Grenoble today for Alpe d'Huez. Before heading out Sue wanted to venture into the main shopping area and have a look around all the shops.....however we forget that today was Bastille day and almost all the shops were closed. Too bad, we'll have to leave the shopping for another day.

Time to get on the road to Alpe d'Huez.

... is basic, but we share it with some 12 other Motorhomes, so all is good. A quick explore of the village,.. a visit to the local Patisserie ( for dessert), and the supermarket for a baguette, pate, fromage, and some French wine,.. and we were settled in for the night. Coll looked at me and said,.. "Look at you, you haven't stopped smiling since we crossed the border!" I have to say, it is a nice feeling to get back to the French pastries, French wine, and bread,.. YES! The ...

The title says it all! Today we cycled from Valloire to Briancon over the Col du Galibier (2646m). The weather was against us pretty much all day, as we woke to pouring rain forcing us to drag everything inside and practically take over the sites shower block! We left several hours later with just croissants and pain au chocolats in our stomach. The climb up to the col was a relentless 17.5km at 7%, so blood ...
