... of cheeses at the breakfast buffet. Had I known how the rest of the day would shape up, I would have had double.

I headed off to town. The morning had been a little cloudy but it seemed like the sun might break through so I opted for my swimsuit as undergarments. The town is teeeeensy. And most of the shops are closed for the season (aka 'personal rest'). So I quickly found myself on the beach, and much to my contentment the sun was shining. The water was cool but not ...
El Cabo de Gata, Andalusia, Spain josiezim... nor American helped me.

Rather than just going back to the train station and sitting there for four hours, I stopped in a little Argentinian restaurant. Knowing Gaby, I was well versed in the fact that I should check the menu before sitting down. The Argentinians (and Uruguayans, who really fed Argentina everything their famous for, right Gaby?) are big meat eaters. But, they had pasta on the menu. Hurray.

The waiter was an older guy that found it amusing ...
Almeria, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands josiezim... around a bit and then headed on our way. Our main destination was Almeria to see the Fort there called Alcabaza, and then we planned to visit Parque Natural in Cabo de Gato. This area is know for it's conservation efforts and beautiful natural beaches. Mike asked around to find out what other areas are interesting on our way to Almeria. A woman (park cleaning lady) told him Roquetes de mar is a beautiful spot. We drove right there and hated it! Ugly, overdeveloped town ...
Almeria, Andalusia, Spain stacicheck... it turned into sand and stones. We could barely walk the bikes. This seriously slowed us down. Whats worse is that it meant that we ended up on the grotty outskirts of Almeria as it got dark. Desperate for a place to sleep we went to check out under a motorway bridge. Whilst we were down there we saw some kids needlessly kill a goat with rocks and sticks. Not a great site to be honest. I still thought it would probably be alright to stay. They were only kids after all. Quote ...
Almería, Andalusia, Spain chris_jones01Returned to San Jose. Next day drove around to the town of Cabo de Gata, saw the salt-pans, went up the the "Cape", saw the incredible beach of Cabo de Gata, had great lunch there, then went around to the beach at Monsul. Eventually decided I HAD to leave!!
San Jose, Burgundy, Spain travellerbruceI decided to rent a car for my last couple of days at San Jose, so took the bus into Almeria. Although there is an excellent integrated bus/train station there, Airport buses go from elsewhere!! So I went looking for the bus-stop, found a man who directed me half-a mile down the road. As I walked to the bus-stop, the Airport bus went by! Got to the bus-stop and had to wait 45 minutes for the next one. It's first stop was just by where the man had directed me... so I'd ...

Almeria, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands quatrequart... a problem with the Van, for once we didn´t tie the awning down and we did not appreciate the force of the winds. We left the van for a short while and came back to a bloody mess. No other way of saying it. The awning went over the top of the van. It is still useable, but is bent in a lot of places! Not much to report from this little resort so will sign off now. Liz and Rocky
Roquetas De Mar, Almenia, Spain lizpSo, after two satisfactory days of wearing our shoes off sightseeing in Sevilla, the time has come for us to hop on the coach again and head for Granada. Fortunately enough, Granada was only 3 and a half hours away from Sevilla, which we found very comforting. And so we reached Granada. I must say, it's not much of a place in terms of beauty, but Granada is charming for a whole lot of other reasons which I can only narrow down to the following sentence "anything goes". People mind their ...
