This morning we were greeted with a sumptuous breakfast of juice, tomato and cucumber salad, olives, dried figs, apricots and sultanas, a fried egg presented in a Turkish dish, plenty of bread with condiments, a small chocolate cake/muffin and excellent tea and coffee. ... travel through Georgia, through the Stans crossing the Caspian Sea yuck, then enter China for a very short way then into India. Lots to organise, lots to go wrong but if it works, and it should it will be amazing ( except the Caspian Sea ) Finally, I booked a room for 3 nights in a hotel in Ankara, found a cheapie at £38 per night in the centre and wow, when we arrived we have got a suite on the top floor, absolutely fantastic, let's hope the rest of our time here goes as well ...

My one anxiety on leaving Amasya was whether I would find the road to Corum. Shouldnt have worried - clear as a bell....and the road was a perfectly good rural highway. Easy driving across rolling green country; lots of wheat. Wildflowers all along the verges.
