Papeete, French Polynesia didierlartigue... up and return to the house. We had managed to waste half and hour which was something. We spent the remainder of the afternoon reading and resting. At 5.30pm some other people turned up which looked promising, until we realised they were a French family. We build up the courage to ask the lady to cook us our tea again which meant cold sauce and pasta with hot dogs again. After tea we hid in our room and played cards again, before packing away our washing and then going to bed.
Tahiti, Society Islands, French Polynesia dlz... Nuku Hiva. Why do I say he was a magician? Well, his name, for one. Also, he would pop up everywhere just as we were talking about him. We would joke that the old woman with the child passing by on the pirogue was really Magi waiting to reveal himself. That 70-year-old sailor in a Speedo? Magi. Need more proof? At night, Magi returned to his boat, the Santana, where his familiar, Tom the black cat, waited. And, when we swapped music with Magi, our Ipod was filled strange ...
Tahiti, Society Islands, French Polynesia marmaladejenn... fire was still raging, but felt secure that the Fire Department would soon win this battle. In two days we will arrive at Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. Where is Harriet? Congratulations to Brenda as the first one to find Harriet. Others were also able to find Harriet but Brenda was the first. That puts Brenda and Shelby in a tie for first place in the "Where is Harriet" Hunt. We now have another Where is Harriet Hunt. The hint is that she is in the Indoor Market Place.
Papeete, French Polynesia danharriet... Bought a charger for my ipod, I have been going without since Cusco where it was stolen with my bag and then went to the police station because I have lost my driving licence in easter island and I can make a new one here hopefully. Once this was finished it started raining cats and dogs so I decided to grab a bus home, which dropped me off at the bottom of the hill. Walked for about 5 min in the crazy weather, just enough for me to be absolutly soaking when I managed to find ...
Papeete, Society Islands, French Polynesia patoysandrix... he grabbed a couple of bottles and a couple of croissanty bunny things (with which, by that time of night, you could have driven in nails), and let Mr. Visa take care of it. Should it matter to any of you, we spent 1310.00 Pacific Francs. After our hearty meal of pop, malaria prophylaxis and crescent shaped masonry, we checked what time check-in started and went off to find some benches on which to stretch out. There weren't really ...
Papeete, French Polynesia jacobandkirsty... the waterfalls were one of the main attractions. The road up to the top of the pass over the mountains was a little bumpy but not as rough as we had been led to expect. We drove over the top of a dam and stopped on the top. We didn´t realise that it isn´t normally overflowing. We stood in 2 or 3 inches of water as it flowed over the top while the driver fed ...
Tahiti, French Polynesia paul_lucy... NZ is only an hour behind. Silly chickens. There was also a lovey German Shepard, and a little torti cat that hung out in the kitchen. I got to hear a cat purr for the first time since June! Especially after I let her lick my bowl. She had like six abscesses on her legs though, which was a little disheartening. We stayed on Moorea for 4 nights and did a lagoon tour one day. It entailed a 6.5 hour boat ride on which we saw spinner dolphins ...
Papeete, French Polynesia jamierb... of French Polynesia for the French government. Next we visited Maraa Grotto, a series of caves full of water and ferns. We visited Marae Arahurahu where we could see acouple of stone statues or Marae and the ruins of a small village. We watched sun set over Orofero River beach, a popular surfing break. The next morning we did some sun bathing and chatted to some kiwis before our five hour flight to New Zealand.
