El Cristo-Sector La Caranta Margarita Island, Coastal Islands, Venezuela, 6301
... particularly on the Northern coastline that are much quieter. Oddly enough the capital, La Asuncion, only serves as the municipal town from which Government works, whilst Porlamar is the commercial centre. As a result La Asuncion has only 2 high rise blocks for council workers while the rest of the town remains resolutely old style, single storey colonial buildings mostly in bright Caribbean colours and with narrow roads. There is one square that is ...
Margarita Island, Venezuela suenson_taylorsThongs ahoy! I’m in Margarita Island off the north coast of Venezuela and it seems there is a competition to wear the smallest bikinis possible… even the pregnant women are in on the action, and the men aren’t shying away as there are also speedos aplenty. Although I think that the most likely explanation for the speedos on Playa El Agua is the large number of German tourists that flock here. I should’ve realised as soon ...
Margarita Island, Venezuela vickicooperI am here in Ciudad Bolivar trying to catch up with the blog entry that I have missed over the last few days. This was just a small trip to Isla de Margarita and I never knew that there was such a place, nothing happens and everything is happening. There is so much development here but the transport to the Island is appalling, at least the one we were on ...
Isla Margarita, Isla Margarita, Venezuela ricardoalberoni... but you can read about that in the next blog - it's is defiantly something to read about as we had a psychotic tour guide! One the way home, we were delayed by 24hrs due to a technical fault on the plane - so we got to miss out on a days work - wouldn't have been so bad if Going Places hadn't screwed up our onward travel - see later blog entry Anyway, on the whole I would recommend Venezuela but not so much Margarita Island if you are looking to be active.
Margarita Island, Coastal Islands, Venezuela diver79... like resort town but it is really nothing like that. It is very poor here, and what is regarded as the best part of town really looks like one of the worst parts of the states. The basic things, such as upkeep and maintenance of neighborhoods, are completely lacking. And littering is a huge problem. It is quite interesting what you take for granted back in the states. We miss you all! But we don´t miss the snow!!
Margarita Island, Venezuela marcijohn... daily newspaper, to be his vice-president. As for Uribe's often-cited "landslide" victory, he received 53% of the official vote, but only 25% of the electorate voted! He was also the only South American leader to back Bush´s invasion of Iraq, and is rapidly increasing the size of the Colombian Armed Forces and the USA´s involvement in intelligence gathering. The Bush administration are keen to see the USA expand its multi-billion dollar ...
Porlamar, Venezuela sheenasumaria... friendly people, told me about all the things I could to in the area, invited me to whole bunch of beer throughout the whole journey and then they just happened to be headed to the same town as me - Juangriego - so they invited me to drive with them, as they had a car, saving me some 30-40.000 bolivares for the taxi there. But that wasn't even all - they invited me even to dinner as well! What gentlemen! Then they also offered to share a hotel ...
Porlamar, Venezuela koutinka... capital of Puerta La Cruz and sitting in the Margarita Island ferry terminal for 7 hours waiting for my ferry to take me there. On mistake A: I don't know if it was just the track I took, but there was very little spoken English if any at all. What I noticed was that the majority of tourists in Venezuela were Venezuelan and so English was not common at all. I did not go to Caracas and I found that the lovely University town of Merida in the Andes had more English than ...
