Target Gokyo Lakes

Its a long trek today but we are not going to have a lunch break until we reach Gokyo Lakes today. We retrace our steps to the ridge above the rescue post and then pass through the fluttering prayer flags for the start of our journey today. We start our journey with the three of us but as there is a lot of other trekkers heading the same way Bhimsen suggests that as Ashok could travel quicker on his own he could go on ahead and make sure we have our chosen lodge at Gokyo. He will do this as w...

... rights until we get rocking and we get so far over all I see is water over my head! I start yelling back at him to stop and no more body lefts and rights please you heartless man! Who the heck gave you a liscence to do this to anyone! But the combination of the g-force is rippling my facial skin and the wind makes it impossible for him to hear me. It's at the point where I don't think I can take it anymore when the insanity finally stops. We start a gentle glide and I get ...

Back to Pokhara and Random Thoughts

... though as we spent a lot of time hanging around in the lodges and you tended to bump into the same people and then see them on the trail sometimes. I mentioned John, the American, in my last entry and I have also seen him a couple of times in Kathmandu and as he is here even longer than me I am sure we will probably have a beer or 2 when I get back to Kathmandu. In another bizarre coincidence I discovered that an English couple (both teachers) who I had chatted with on the Langtang trail ...

The views were amazing and reading about the Budda shrines was really interesting. By the time we had walked back the sun had set, it goes dark so quickly so we had to row pretty fast back to the dock.

Our few days in Pokhara have been amazing, the place is so beautiful. Peace in Pokhara.

... common, and the safest for that matter. I am not a huge fan of trekking so i will not be embarking on any long trek of 15 days or anything (which most tourists do) to see the mountains. I think 2 days will be long enough for me... call me crazy but wouldn't be the first time or the last. As long as i can experience and embrace true Nepalese villages and culture with my journey...then i will happy as usual.
