Historical Traveler Reviews of Hilton Zurich Airport Hotel Opfikon
Business Hotel - Extras available in bar
from Bellch_Who_Else
Hotel shuttle service was prompt and efficient. Check in took no time at all. Some rooms are a small walk to get too. However not too taxing. Room is smallish but has been redecorated. However, bathroom was still from 1980's.
Went to the bar for a drink prior to taking train to Zurich from airport. Nice view and good service. One gigolo with client in corner, not too discreet - this set a trend.
After dinner in town came back for a coffee and whiskey to bar. Chatted up by an escort who sat at bar. Barman didn't seem to care. Slightly embarrassing for myself. As I did not want to create a scene I finished drink and left.
Breakfast was self service. Nothing exciting and charged 35 Sfr.
Basically a good business hotel.
For those who are interested, the escort sat on the third stool from the end of the bar. She speaks English, German, Spanish and hails from Colombia.
Wonderful Hotel with great location

I stayed there after a long flight from New York. When I came out of the Gate the Shuttle just arrived and I was in about 10 minutes from the gate in the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpfull (no toothpaste). I stayed at the Executive Floor, and the room was just great, modern, warm, relaxing. I took a Thallasso bath (incl. in Exec. Floor) in my bathtub and after a long sleep I was back again. In the morning I came down to the restaurant,
to have breakfast. I have never seen such a great breakfast buffet, so I had to eat nothing the whole day. If I would go again to Zurich I will stay there.
Two very different hotels in one

My impression: two very different hotel experiences, depending on the type of room you choose. First time we stayed on the 4th floor. The rooms were small and poorly furnished. The furniture looked really cheap. The next time we stayed at the 6th floor (exec floor). It was a totally different experience; almost seemed like a different hotel. The room was much bigger and furnished much better. The free buffet at the 5th floor (you only get that if you stay on the exec floors) was good - included wine. Two stars for the room on the 4th floor, 4 stars for the exec rooms - average of 3 stars.
The staff was not too friendly though. My 3 year old went into the gift store. As with most 3 year olds, he touched a couple of items. The store clerk scolded him very rudely. Also the reception clerk was not very friendly. Dont expect the friendly service you get with Hiltons in the US.
Wonderful airport hotel
from Oakland-traveler
We broke up a long trip from Athens to California with an overnight stay at Zurich airport, a spontaneous change in plans for us. Based on the favorable reviews at TripAdvisor, we decided to stay at this hotel, and were delighted that we did so.
The free airport shuttle met us within 2 minutes of our arrival at the departure zone(some luck was involved, as it only runs every 20 minutes). Ten minutes later we were being shown to our immaculate modern room, with nice views of the surrounding countryside. We used the shuttle again to return to the airport to take the train to Zurich, where we wandered for a few hours. Slept the night in great comfort, had fabulous buffet breakfast, took a long walk in countryside adjoining the hotel (me) and exercised in fitness center (my wife). And then resumed our trip greatly refreshed.

We stayed here april 24-29, 2005. A great location with shuttle service to airport. Airport to city center takes about 10 mins. and is included in the Zurich trans pass. Great shaff and pleasent modern room. Valley behind hotel has running and walking trails with a great view of alps. We thought this was a true four star European hotel and would stay here again. Got hotel on priceline for $ 96 plus tax. Zurich is a great city and fine transportation.
Phantastic Hotel

This Hotel is the best Airport Hotel in Switzerland. Excelent Service and staff. The rooms are charming and I loved to stay there. Even if I had no flight I would go to the Hilton instead of going to a city hotel. Location is great (10 minutes from downtown, 5 minutes to the airport). I came from a long flight and the shuttle was on time, so I came from the gate in 5 minutes to the hotel. Food was great, (Zurcher Geschnetzeltes) specialy Cathleen from Front Desk was such nice and helpfull person. If you go to Zurich, try this Hotel, it`s great.
Only if there's no room left on the floor in the airport...

You know a hotel room is bad when you got it for free (using points) and you still feel ripped off. We booked one night at this hotel to make our flight connections easier. The airport shuttle did save time and hassle, but that's pretty much the only positive thing we can say about this hotel. Our free room was not on one of the "recently renovated" above ground floors that are touted on the Hilton Web site. Our room was underground and decades out of date. We particularly loved the yellow plastic headboard affixed to the painted cinderblock walls and the faux marble plastic applique on the side tables and bathroom surfaces. The crowning touch was the two glasses of orange juice and coffee for $20 bucks.
Good Airport Hotel
from Cruisehappy
We stayed at the Zurich Hilton airport hotel after a long international flight. Our room was on the on the executive floor and it had been newly refurbished and was an excellent room. The drinks and snacks in the evening were well worth the extra $$$$$$. We also stayed on our return flight and stayed in a standard room. This room was not as good and we were put in the basement which they call the business center with no view of the outside. I would recommend that you request a floor higher up. The breakfast was excellent which consisted of a large international buffet. The hotel was very clean and the staff very polite. The free shuttle to and from the airport was very good.
If you must

We did not upgrade to concierge, and the room was fine, but fairly dark on a low floor, and overpriced. The restaurant was stingy on drinks and the buffet expensive, but the food was decent, and the people were all nice at the hotel.
Par for a Hilton

Excellent Hilton hotel. Concierge floor was well worth the extra expense. Rooms very comfortable, even had adapters in the mini bar.
Hotel food was very good. Easy to take the shuttle to the airport and the train downtown for a couple Euros and 10 minutes. Had a problem on the last night, the hotel had incorrectly booked us for 3 nights instead of 4 and we were charged double for the last night. Still trying to work with Hilton for a correction, especially being a diamond member.
