We awakened to dense fog this morning that never seemed to burn off. Since we weren't leaving until 1100 because of adverse tide in the Cape Fear, we didn't pay much mind ---- except, when 1100 rolled around, the pea soup fog was still with us. I thought it would soon burn off but was wrong. We traversed the stretch from St. James Marina to Southport at idle, barely making two knots SOG. At Southport, with nearly zero viz, ...

With the tide status of the Cape FEAR river, dictating our schedules, for both today and tomorrow. We have no intention or desire to go out in anything but favorable conditions. This is a luxury only those without schedules can live with. Passed over the South Carolina marker(an Osprey nest)and back to NC. We are at the is ...

The next morning we drove into Wilmington. I had read that downtown Wilmington had a pretty nice atmosphere and we were not disappointed. We walked around Front Street and the Pier and enjoyed North Carolina for the first time since we had entered it. We just happened to drive through there really ...

... and even Charleston in relative comfort.

Here's Maggie with her comments. Well hi, sitting in pub at this lovely marina see temps of 21 and snow in Wisconsin on TV, so No complaints. Unfortunately, my eyesight is inhibiting me from reading charts, but Drew knows this waterway well from previously traveled them. I took the helm for a brief period today and Captain toughed it out. ...

... clothing sat around the fire with me, commenting on their canvas tents and cots they slept on the night before during the freak storm. I sat quietly using the fire to bring the frozen rocks that used to be my toes back to working order. I didn't dare admit to being from Wisconsin, as I would immediately have been labeled a Yankee and probably probed and shot at by the little kids with their fake guns. Rather I claimed Charlotte as my home and asked about the ...
