Historical Traveler Reviews of Hilton Rhodes Ixia

Superb hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just arrived back from the Hilton Rhodes Resort 14.7.04. What an absolutely fantastic holiday we have had courtesy of the Hilton. Delightful rooms which were well furnished and very clean with a superb bathroom with a very good shower - unusual in Greece! Again very clean. We had a room with a sea view and what a view we had over the pool and looking towards Turkey. The food was very good, plenty of choice of salads, main meals and sweets, no problem for vegetarians. Just occassionally this was a little bit on the cold side. The dining room was again clean and very well staffed. Down by the pool there were plenty of sun beds and parasols and also quite a number of trees which we were grateful for as the temp was reaching the 40's and the shade was very gladly appreciated. On the beach again, plenty of sun beds and parasols which you did not have to pay for! The staff at the hotel were very obliging and helpful and could not do enough for you, even the staff down at the beach did what they could to help. I would definitely consider going back to the hotel and would highly recommend it to young and old alike as the age of the holiday makers was very varied. All in all a very, very enjoyable and very relaxing holiday. Worth every penny we paid.

SUPERB HOTEL, VERY HELPFUL STAFF

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel was the venue for a businees conference I recently attended. It had all the facilities I needed for my business trip, but it is also an excellent venue for a vacation - I'm going back in four weeks time with my family. The beach is narrow but gives you an excellent view of Turkey across the Straits. The staff are superb and are probably the most helpful I have met on any of my travels around the world. The accomodation is modern and predictable, but it was always spotlessly clean. Check out the shops on the lower floor - particularly the Tailors shop, leave space in your suitcase for an extra suit.

Very Nice Hotel

from Vickie
My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Rhodes Hilton in June 2004. Overall, the hotel is very nice. The rooms are just standard. Be sure to request seaview, otherwise you may be facing a cement wall. The views from the seaview rooms are beautiful! The pool area is very nice and lush. The staff are friendly. The location is convenient to Rhodes Town. You can either take a bus or taxi. Be sure to visit Old Town Rhodes. An excellent restaurant in Old Town is Romeo's. We ate there twice. The food and atmosphere are excellent! Also be sure to take a trip to Lindos. It's just a little over an hour's drive and it's well worth the trip! We also visited Falikari and we were glad we chose to stay in Ixia Beach instead of Falikari. Falikari is more of a casual party beach atmosphere and Ixia is a bit more upscale. Overall enjoyed our stay at Hilton Rhodes and will stay there again if we return to Rhodes.

Bland rooms, lukewarm food

from ltexile
I stayed at the Hilton Rhodes for 7 nights in a supposedly luxury junior suite. However, the room was bland, it seemed no bigger than standard rooms and the extra space was achieved due to the lack of wardrobes / changing area that is provided in standard rooms. An ironing board was provided but was needed as it was not possible to uinload more than 25% of our clothes into the pathetic single wardrobe. Most extra facilities such as bathrobes / slippers / papers were not provided unless we rang reception - although they were supposed to be provided as a mtter of course.

The food was OK but was never hot.

Best place on Earth

We spent our honeymoon there in July of 2003 and loved every minute of it. From the free orange drink at check-in to the bottle of wine waiting in our spacious, clean room, to the Greek dance lessons at the buffet by the pool- it was incredible!! The property was lush and beautiful compared to the dry landscape on the rest of the island. We enjoyed some days without ever leaving the resort- lounging by the pool and eating the great lunches and walking to the beach. The beach was rocky, but still very enjoyable- just wear sandals! It was so nice to relax on the lawn chairs on the beach and see Turkey across the water.

We rented a car and drove the perimeter of the island. Must sees are Lindos, Faliraki, and any secluded beaches along the way! As for the nightlife, Old Town and New Town are a short taxi ride away, and you can enjoy delicious and inexpensive dinners nightly and great bars after dinner. We also took a boat trip to Simi. This island was very beautiful. Make sure to wear your bathing suit under your clothes- the beach here is great. The water is so clear. Also, the light show in Old Town offers some insight into Rhodes' historic past. Everyone was friendly and very accommodating to us, and the standardized cab fares keep tourists from being overcharged. We definitely recommend this place and will be back for an anniversary trip as soon as possible!!!!

Great Hotel

Stayed at the Hilton Rhodes in October 2002. The staff were excellent.

The hotel was very well maintained. The room was large with a balcony and views over the sea. Read in a previous review about the beach being over the main road but found that all the signs to the beach lead you to a walkway under the road so that wasn't a problem. The staff were very attentive all the way during our stay and nothing was too much trouble. The outdoor pool was excellent with a small cafe and a poolbar next to it (it wasn't heated so it gwas starting to get a bit chilly by October!). If it's your first time to Rhodes, it's well worth hiring a car to have a look round the island (the roads are almost desserted and the standard of driving isn't too bad), but it's much cheaper to hire a car in Rhodos than it is at the hotel.

Excellent staff makes up for lack of beach

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel itself is a beach resort, so the rooms were a little more worn than I had expected, however the rooms were quite large and clean, the water view was lovely and the breakfast buffet was amazing! (room service was also quite good). For a large resort, the architectural design of the building was also quite appealing. By far, the thing that will stand out in our minds was the attentiveness of the staff. At about 8:00 p.m. on the night before our departure, the front desk called us to inform us about a taxi strike the next day, starting at 5:00 a.m. They made sure that we had a ride to the airport at 4:30.

I've never stayed at a place that paid such close attention to the needs of the guests. We traveled with a 2 1/2 year old child and found the children's pool and the kid's club to be invaluable. The beach was disappointing because it was full of rocks, but we rented a car and found wonderful beaches on the other side of the island - about a 40 minute drive away. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Rhodes for holidays.

Great for families

We just returned from 1 week at the Hilton Rhodes Resort and very much enjoyed it. First, the rooms were very nice (make sure to get an ocean view-the mountain view rooms aren't that great). Second, the food was very good. Huge selection in the buffets every day-although you get tired of it after a few days. Overall, we really enjoyed the pool and other facilities. The staff were very kind-particularly to our 1 year old daughter. The location is also very good-near the airport and Rhodes Old (and new) Town. Both of these a very touristy by the way.

The only negative comments about the Hilton are: (1) the beach is accross a busy road and is not very good; (2) the hotel itself is a bit old, although is maintained pretty well. Considering everything, I would recommend highly.

First Class Hilton Rhodes

We booked our own stay at the Hilton Rhodes, we could not fault anything, spotlessley clean , staff very friendly, nothing too much trouble for them.Pity the staff in english hotels are not like the staff in this hotel. Fabulous grounds and good entertainment, wonderful selection of good food for every taste. 2 weeks of utter luxury, with loverly weather. Visited from 28 June -12 July 2003. the bedrooms very spacious, housekeeping staff brilliant, will be back for sure. Well worth every penny. It is the small personal touches that make the differance, like a refreshing orange juice on arrival, and a correct bill on departure.
