So here we are in Prague. We didn't do too much yesterday, just walked around and did some shopping. The Hilton here is amazing, we have the executive lounge access, which gives us completely free breakfast, internet access, snacks, soda and beer. We had a really delicious breakfast this morning, a cheese omelette for me, french toast and bacon for Randy. We will upload pictures later, we are going on a personal tour today with our guide, Eva.

Prague was a fantastic and magical place. The whole time I was there I felt like I was in a fairytale. Whilst I was there I spent some time in Prague Castle. This isn't just a castle but almost a whole town inside the high walls. I walked over Charles Bridge and went up onto the roof of one of the towers for a fantastic view of the city. There were many other places that I saw too. I'll definitely come back here one day. Off to Vienna, Austria next!
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic misswillis... plus a large hop warehouse fire and the worldwide hop supply was dwindling while growers had to replant. Now the hops are back and it isn’t quite a crisis anymore.

We are finally down to the cellars after going past the large copper covered tanks where the beer is mashed and hops added. Down here we are treated to a new beer. It has not yet been filtered and pasteurized but boy is ...
Plzen, Bohemia, Czech Republic carpefeline... in it's main square.).

The brewery tour was 90 mins long and I'm sure the gentleman conducting the tour was the human muse for the creation of 'The Count' on sesame street, his hair didn't move, sadly there were no mirrors anywhere so I couldn't check for a reflection... He was a brilliant tour leader and was happy to answer any ...
Plzen, Bohemia, Czech Republic travellingjenToday we went to the Pilsner Urquell brewery in Plzen. Pilsner, the type of beer, originated here, where Pilsner Urquell was brewed from local crops and local mineral water. The tour was awesome. We saw the traditional brew kettles and the modern ones, as well as a very modern new packaging plant. We also tasted some unpastuerized beer directly from fermenting barrels.
Plzen, Bohemia, Czech Republic chrisny2... diplomats as she could trade in her dollars for about 20 times the value to government ministers who wanted to buy American clothes and perfume. Yeah....worth a visit.

Since we have to leave early on Friday morning this was our last chance for a big night out. There are loads of pub crawls that are organised by hostels and other people so we decided to go on one recommended to us by some people in the hostel. The Australian guys that were sharing out hostel room ...
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic isyrob1... Lane, home to the cranks and quacks who dwelt in Rudolf's Prague Castle. This narrow cobbled lane way of whimsical shed-sized homes was once the home of Franz Kafka. It now holds uninspiring tourist souvenirs. But you can still see the soot coated chimneys where the alchemists brewed their concoctions. The result of their failures can also be found nearby. The Golden Lane leads to a tower with a torture chamber. The alchemists knew what Rudolf had in store for them if he ...
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic red_gamer... as I can. In Prague we went out for a traditional Czechoslovakian dinner in one of the old beer halls; roast lamb, goulash, and three types of crumbed cheeses dipped in tartar sauce all featured on our menu - as well as lots of Czech beer to wash it all down with. This night started our obsession with the European Cup and we stayed up watching the game in a little bar in the old town. We travelled out from Prague to the town ...
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic kittyArrived in Karlstejn on the "City Elephant" train at 1.20pm and walked 2km to the Karlstejn Castle. Went on the 2.30pm English tour of the castle which took about an hour. No photography allowed inside the castle. Took in the views over the town before walking back to the train station and catching the train back to Prague.
Karlstejn, Bohemia, Czech Republic tyga... of the 17th and 18th century. Coffin-lids have been replaced with )glass!) so you can take a VERY close look at dry, dusty bones and crusty eye-sockets draped in leathery blankets of crispy skin! One room had about 25 monks simply laid to rest on the sandy floor. It was surreal, absolutely crazy!! Michael is a typical young man who sleeps way too much and ever since, I have referred to his bedroom as 'The Kryptia'. We both seem to get a laugh out of that...
