... try and dress like the local people. It will be warm there. I'm glad for that as here in Arizona in the desert no less we have had a lot of rain today and a lot of snow in the North. It is just hard to beleive the weather here. Every so often a siginal comes on the TV with a notice of the weather.

Completed in 1350 AD at pretty much the end of their civilization, they'd already been in the desert southwest for a thousand years.
Standing amongst the remains of a ruined village from a past world, you really get a sense of how minuscule our lives are by comparison. We live for a nanosecond and are gone and all that's left is a pile of mud to mark the passing.

Here's a tip for anyone coming to Phoenix: get signed up on the Internet for Groupon and get email alerts for special deals in the valley. We saved a bunch of money by getting half price tickets for tonight. It works like this, you have 24 hours to purchase and if they get enough buyers the deals on, if not, you're not charged. So you either buy or ignore with a new deal coming out every day.
... in the world. IN THE WORLD. It's still the 3rd largest--that's what they claim. That's really big, isn't it?
During the summer so much water is taken out of the lake for irrigation, and to supply the lakes further down, that it can be a half mile from the campground to the water. But they let you camp on the beaches that surface, so in places you can still get near the water--if you can find a flat place that isn't muddy. After all, this is desert and water can't be wasted on ...

I decided to get an American drivers license. I had to take a written test and once u pass that, you take a practical driving test. You can actually take both tests in the same day if you like and have a driving license after just a few hours. Soooo much different to the UK. Today I was taking the written test, I was borrowing my Step Brothers car to take the ...

The Hohokam were able to build the structure's wall to align with the four points on the compass and had holes in the wall that would align with the setting sun during the summer equinox. They dug canals and was able to route water to their fields from the nearby Gila River. However, during the late 1400's the Hohokum society began to break down ...

The track official was down on the track for a very long, frightening time, first waiting for an ambulance, and then waiting for a medevac chopper to take him to a hospital. We found out later that all CAT scans were fine, but he had two severe compound leg fractures which would require several surgeries.
Casa Grande, Arizona, United States pykesonthego... We headed out for dinner in Ted's huge Hummer (the first step is a high one) which is high off the road and feels very safe to drive in. We had a delicious Mexican meal (different style Mexican, I think it was called Abuelo's http://www.abuelos.com/) - very modern and upscale with a huge entranceway. Enchilada and beer. Yummmmy. After dinner we returned back to their lovely home for tea and an early night after almost seeing their very shy cat who hid among the banisters upstairs.
