Back to the Welt; for two reasons

Didn't mention yesterday... Kinda pranged the M6 getting it back into the BMW Welt carpark. Great big double DOH! there. So I had to go back to the Welt and sort out the insurance on that. Ouch! All things considered they were really good about it and I was shattered. It is a really wide car and it is a really small car park entry; really.

So after an amazing flight I arrived in Munich... An interesting observation is that fairly obviously from Dubai there were a lot of Arab families on the flight. I saw a number of instances during boarding where Dad and the kids went to business class and Mum (and sometimes Grandma) went to first class. As we got off first the Arab ladies were …

On April the 14th, 2013, my first destination was Germany. When I arrived with my family, the weather was too cold. It was around 2 to 3 C .So, It was a problem to my family. But to me, It was fantastic. We stayed in Hilton hotel. It was an elegant hotel. First, we went to a place called English Garden. It was a very huge garden that we couldn't …

Feeling well rested in a super comfortable bed, Doug and I woke up by 10 am and had brunch in the executive lounge before going back to the room to get ready for day two of oktoberfest. Doug had decided to put together makeshift lederhosen out of the things he had with him in his backpack, and he actually managed to come up with a pretty great …

After what could only be classified as the longest and worst train ride in history (9 hours in a cramped 6 seat box on the train with a woman who spent 7 hours on her cell phone) I arrived to Munich HBF at around 6:20 am and immediately stopped by Starbucks to workout how to get to the hotel, and of course to get a coffee. Once I had figured out …

    Nothing wrong with this place

Staff were great, onsite parking, not far from the city centre or BMW Welt. No shock there was a nice park near by. Had a spa downstairs, didn't use it but that's nice. Had a awesome burger via room service. Check in and check out was great. Had to pay for internet which is a little ol skool but there you go. Had a nice balcony over looking a little creek with a damn or a dyke (can I say that?) which made a nice sound. The bathroom and shower was really good. Had a bar that didn't server bier... in Germany, WTF? I would recommend it to others.

    Perfectly nice

    from

We stayed at another centrally located hotel for 4 nights during Oktoberfest. The only way to secure a much better airfare was to add one more day to our trip. So, on the last day (very tired) we moved to the Hilton Park. Although the location leaves a little to be desired, this is a very nice hotel. It is obviously geared toward business. However, the rooms were large and attractive and so were the bathrooms. It was very clean. Lunch was expensive (watch out for the $5 large Coke!). Breakfast was fantastic and came with our room...full buffet. Lastly, although the location is less than stellar for the tourist, I believe a cab ride to central Munich was around 10-12 euro, so it's not too bad. And don't forget that you can walk out the front door and be in the English Garden (Park). Lastly, there is a privately owned Chinese restaurant in the basement. It is absolutely out of this world. Great Chinese food and not outrageously expensive. Keep it in mind (there aren't a lot of other places in walking distance!).

    Look at the view!

    from

Being retired we look for comfortable hotels with plenty of facilities. In Munich the Hilton Park hotel fits that bill, in addition to which the staff is very friendly. The view and the breakfast rate 100 out of 100! Try and get a room as high up as is available with a view to the West.

It is not the most central of hotels, but having stayed at other hotels in the centre of Munich, the proximity of the English Garden and the (very) low noise level more than make up for the tram or bus ride into town.

    Awful location, nice hotel

    from

This hotel was very nice but is definitely leaning towards the business traveler. It's not a romantic place for couples! The breakfast was good but very expensive for what it was and the staff had told us the breakfast was included in our room rate, but when we checked out, it wasn't. The location is VERY difficult to get to, especially if you are driving yourself, but also if you take public transportation. We would not stay here again just because of the awful location.

Pretty location, nice inside, avoid rooms nearby lift

    from

I find the hotel beautifully located in a quiet side street served by public transport. Unfortunately you always have to change when going to the train station or one of the underground or s-bahn stops. There was some view from the 5th floor. The bad experience was that I could easily heare people from the hallway, especially as my room was next to the lifts. I asked for an alternative and found that my problem was resolved to my satisfaction at last, but the solution took its time and the behaviour of the receptionist was not very active towards me. (In all other cases they were very courteous and helpful.) Finally I had a room twice as big and just quiet. Nevertheless I liked the hotel. Breakfast was great, spacious restaurant.

    You get what you expect

    from

We stayed at the Hilton during Oktoberfest. Like alot of Hiltons, you wouldn't really know what country you were staying in once you were inside. Most of the people staying seemed to be business orientated and not the usual holiday traveller. The rooms were clean and we had a balcony overlooking the stream - pretty average view and nothing to write home about. Breakfast had a good choice and I was very impressed at what was on offer. My biggest complaint about the hotel though was the location, to the point that I wouldn't stay here again as it is not easily accessible. There is a bus stop outside the hotel but not after 8pm at night when it takes a different route. After this time it is about a 5 minute walk to the hotel in what I thought was a relatively safe area. As it was away from alot of the general traffic, it misses out on there not being bars and restaurants at hand - none that we found anyway. So if eating and drinking in the evening is what you are after then this hotel is not ideally located. But you get what you expect when staying at a Hilton and if you want somewhere predictable to stay without local character, then this is it.

    Great Hotel

We stayed at the hotel for four nights during Oktoberfest. Great location, helpful staff. I would certainly stay at this property again.

I stayed at Hilton Munich Park for two weekday nights in September 2004 and recommend it. First class all the way. Caters to (and is priced for) business crowd. Sizable rooms, nice balconies, thick walls and doors, no city/traffic noise, impeccably clean, friendly helpful staff. Get

Excellent service - lovely location....it's a standard Hilton ... typically hilton styled..but really excellent service by some brilliant, friendly staff!

    Typical Hilton, but great service!

    from

Have stayed here many times and always enjoyed my stay. The rooms are typical of a Hilton, and don't expect too much from the view, but it is convenient to take the subway anywhere you need to go. It is also by the park, so you can enjoy nice walks. The service was very good. Much better than most hotels in the city. This is very good for business travelers who want a good place to stay and service that allows you to "just relax" after working all day.

Hotel is very nice set in the English Garden. It's a bit of a walk to restaurants and shops. There are better hotels in Munich that are centrally located.
